Annadel State Park, Santa Rosa, CA, January 25, 2002, 10:30am

I rode Parktrail, Canyon, Marsh, Burma, Steve's S and Spring Creek in 90 minutes. I was in SR for a funeral, so I had only my bike and helmet, and no other gear. I rode the loop in 501s, long sleeve t-shirt, fleece pull-over, headband with ear covers, and skate shoes on flat pedals. No tight roadie shorts, over-priced vest, bothersome tools, patches, pump or any of that crap.

On the way up Marsh at the bench, there were a group (flock?) of squirrels chirping to each other. After 5 minutes of me being quiet and still, they sounded like howler monkeys. I've never seen or heard anything like it from squirrels before.

There are three colors of mud up in Annadel. A very light brown, a very dark brown, and brick-red. A bunch of Marsh was also frozen so it had a crispy frosting. I probably wouldn't ride Marsh and Burma again now that I know how much boggy muck is up there. I don't think it had rained in SR for over a week either.

On the way down spring creek, as I passed quitely through a small herd (6-7) of grazing deer, and over a knoll, I saw a couple kissing on the trail. It would have made a great photo; creek, oaks, mud, singletrack. As I passed, I noticed they were both girls.

New camera too, BTW. Nikon Coolpix 995.
Nice rig. Is that the one you had at Skeggs?Twilight Error®

I spent Saturday procrastinating again. Sigh.
I'll probably be heading out there again in Sept...Twilight Error®

I just got some wicked bad news from the doc, I may not be riding until then anyhow - toss the stuff in your attic or garage, I'll get it when I go out.

...and nice job matching your valve caps to your frame! Take that, all you riders who pee on aesthetics! <|;-)

What kind of lights are those?

...slime tubes come with red caps. I normally don't bother with the caps, but they just match so damn well.

i was up there friday from 10-12 with a co-worker and her husband. they hadn't been riding much lately but we had been wanting to go on a ride together. we rode up cobblestone and orchard, looped around live oak and north burma, down canyon, they were finished and rode thru springlake back to channel drive. i went back up rough-go then back down orchard and cobblestone back to channel.

it was pretty cold that morning.

i went again yesterday, before all this snow, and was able to ride in just shorts and jersey w/said overpriced vest and arm warmers. amazing how weather changes from day to day, even after the snow it looks like it will be a nice day again today.

How much snow do you think is up there? It was 43f when I went by the fairgrounds on the way out there. My toes were a little cold, but not bad.

I recently "re-discovered" Coe. I only know one route there from the Hunting Hollow entrance, but it's an epic. I'm sure there is much more to enjoy there. Looking forward to learning more routes.

Nice bike, I own a Jamis Dakota XC made with Reynolds 631. I love that bike and by the way is that an Impala SS?? If so, more bonus points for the sleeper ride!!
