| Charlie Amerique, Fast Eddy, JRM, Moschika et al at Annadel | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 8:11 AM | | Charlie's playground pictures were nice and all, but if you're coming, you want to see some singletrack pictures, don't you? I thought so.
The boys at Lake Ilsanjo. From left, Steve, Ed, Charlie, Eric and JRM (John right? I was calling you Joe all day.) Mike is behind the camera. |
| Charlie and Steve on Canyon | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 8:13 AM | | |
| great pix! | JimC Apr 17, 2002 8:27 AM | | I gotta get down there. *sigh* Jim (trapped in cubicle) |
| And Fast Eddy came to join us. | Charlie America Apr 17, 2002 12:02 PM | | Not that he really needed to, he was jsut being "social". |
| JRM on a cross bike. WTF? | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 8:17 AM | | JRM had some MTB issues, so he brought his cross bike with a 39:27 low gear. He was smokin'! This is the new Marsh Trail. It used to be a fire road. |
| JRM on Ridge Trail. | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 8:20 AM | | Another new trail? Oh yes. Annadel has added or converted probably 30 miles of singletrack since Replay by the Bay, 2000. |
| is that jarring on the old bones? | spideysgirl Apr 17, 2002 9:38 AM | | don't see any suspension on that cross bike. ow |
| Yeah, and hard on tubes too! | Charlie America Apr 17, 2002 12:04 PM | | Here was the first of three front flats John had... |
| But he kept on going... | Charlie America Apr 17, 2002 12:05 PM | | ...like the Energizer Bunny. |
| sir flatsalot | spideysgirl Apr 17, 2002 8:35 PM | | that's impressive! kinda looks like he's on a 10 speed. Thanks for the photos!!! |
| Charlie on Ridge | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 8:21 AM | | Me trying to figure out the shutter lag on my camera. |
| I had the same issues. | Charlie America Apr 17, 2002 12:15 PM | | I needed to shoot when people were full on in the daylight... not that there's a lot of it around up there, but still.
I think you can recognize Steve here (or better yet, you'd better so you knwo who to ask when you want something off the BBQ)
I'll practice more with the camera this weekend. |
| Charlie much later, coming down Burma | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 8:24 AM | | This is about an hour later, after one of JRMs flats. |
| JRM and Moschika on Burma at the top of Steve's S Trail | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 8:26 AM | | |
| Another at Lake Ilsanjo, more scenery | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 8:31 AM | | This is an awesome swimming hole. The bottom drops about 3' vertically, right from the edge. You can dive right in. |
| Moschika and I were out front on all the downhills... | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 8:35 AM | | ...and we were going way too fast. All the trails were tacky, rocky and in perfect condition. It was one of my favorite rides of all time. Super smoove. This is the top section of Rough-Go. |
| The flowers were out too. | Charlie America Apr 17, 2002 12:08 PM | | Denise Moore, Denise Moore, dum dum dum da dum.. |
| Did you notice all the Wild Hares out? | Charlie America Apr 17, 2002 12:11 PM | | Here's the third one...
It's a shame I didn't get shots of the dozens of turkeys (besides the ones on the bikes) or the dozens of deer in the park.. or that hawk.. or the vultures circling over us wondering if Mellow Yellow was with us. |
| OH NO!! ITS THE KILLER RABBIT!! RUN AWAY!!! RUN AWAY!!! nm | MntnMan Apr 17, 2002 2:13 PM | | |
| Yeah, Eddy was FLYIN' | Charlie America Apr 17, 2002 12:19 PM | | He even had his wings out once or twice.. |
| Charlie and I tried this giant boulder... | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 8:39 AM | |
I can't tell you if we cleaned it or not. It would spoil the season premiere.
|
| Where is that? | Mikey Apr 17, 2002 9:06 AM | | Hey, where'd you get the tacos & beer? I only get up to Annadel once or twice a year, and seem to never be able to find any food on the way back to 101. |
| Lepe's | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 10:22 AM | | It's not on the way back to the freeway. You have to go right on Summerfield, and right again on Montgomery. Then it's on the left at the end of the strip mall. |
| hey, who's the lush? | dante Apr 17, 2002 10:11 AM | | one beer, 3 waters and 2 cokes?? jeez, that doesn't look like much of an after-ride dinner to me...
dante |
| Coke comes in glass bottles? | CraigH Apr 17, 2002 11:29 AM | | I don't think I've seen that up here in a few years. Might be wrong though as I'm not a Coke drinker. |
| Imported from Mexico. | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 12:32 PM | | They're actually used, refilled glass bottles with little paper nutrition labels. Most taquerias have them. I don't know about Coke, but Mexican Pepsi is better than American Pepsi. |
| mexican pepsi is better then american pepsi, must be the H20 | moschika Apr 17, 2002 12:46 PM | | most taquerias around here have coke in the bottles. you pay extra for it but it's good stuff. much better then the canned stuff. |
| Not the water, the sugar. | Pete. Apr 17, 2002 1:06 PM | | US stuff is made with high fructose corn syrup and the Mexican stuff is made with a different type of sugar.
Check the bottle.
Pete |
| that ol' diesel and dirt? | moschika Apr 17, 2002 2:24 PM | | growing up, that's what my cousin and i would call the sugar his mom would bring back from shopping in tijuana.
now i see it in these lil' packets called "sugar in the raw". we were eating that stuff as kids in our cereal because we thought we were too poor to get the good white sugar.
maybe it's different sugar then what's in the coke, i don't know. |
| Speaking of US sugar... | CraigH Apr 17, 2002 3:41 PM | | Did you read about the last Lifesaver factory in the US is closing and moving to Quebec due to the tariff on sugar imports?
They use something like 140tons a day and sugar in Canada is 10cents a pound cheaper. I'd imagine that adds up in a hurry.
The tariff protects the US sugar industry and by moving to Canada they can buy sugar at world price.
Was an interesting article on how world economics affects even the smallest thing.
A quick google search turned up this article.

| what state u riding in? nm | skeeter Apr 17, 2002 8:53 AM | | |
| Sweet. Looks like you've finally figured out how to operate... | Biking Viking Apr 17, 2002 9:09 AM | | ...that camera.
The singletrack looks fairly non-technical. I was planning to bring both kids to this ride - tow Karoline on the Trail-a-Bike and have Erik ride himself. We won't be able to do the whole ride but we'll do most of it.
The trail-a-bike is the limiter on how much of a technical ride we can do. Steep and rocky stuff doesn't work, but from what I see in those pictures, it should be a breeze. Do you think it's possible?
Thanks,
BV |
| yes... | grundy Apr 17, 2002 9:28 AM | | sorry, I'm jumping in here and am not sure what trails you are planning to ride - but there are plenty of routes that you could take with your trailer. most of the trails are nice and smooth. |
| You'll find stuff to ride, but... | Fast Eddy Apr 17, 2002 10:20 AM | | ...Annadel is very rocky. Very rocky. Did I say that twice?
You may find the little one whining about it being too bumpy. I know mine would. |
| ... oooh, that's true | grundy Apr 17, 2002 10:30 AM | | yeah, sorry I must be asleep at the wheel today. x out the "most of the trails are smooth"
BUT - I do think you could do a nice ride with a little one in a trailer - there are SOME decent trails - including a nice fire road to the lake. I'm not sure how bumpy is too bumpy but I think you would be ok. |
| re: Charlie Amerique, Fast Eddy, JRM, Moschika et al at Annadel | Jrm Apr 17, 2002 11:47 AM | | Great pic's. looking forward to riding Skeggs. |
| Great shots | moschika Apr 17, 2002 12:43 PM | | definitely look forward to that weekend. only prob is that i found out i have to work that thursday night so now i'm not too sure about skeggs that next friday. depends on how long it would take for me to get there from here and what time i would have to be there. so we'll see. |
| Cool.... | Monte Apr 17, 2002 6:35 PM | | dat loog like fun.
