Post your artistic bike shots. I didn't take this one...a friend of mine, Karen actually took it, but I had a copy on my hard drive and I like this shot.

This is after the inaugural ride at John Bryan Trail in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

Hey Bikernate. You ride at Hueston much, or Caesers? This shot is from Nebo Ridge in Indiana.

Deanna,

That shot is coming back towards the parking lot from the turn around. I'm heading through the pine forest.

Hueston was in great shape Tuesday night. The only issue is the damn Coon hunters. Luckily they see us show up and stop and leave.

Were riding Cave Run this Sunday if your interested. I think Craig from DIO is bringing a few people along. Have you ever ridden at Cave?

Here's the shot I took at the same spot:

fast section! i like the pine forest. cave run is a bit of a haul for me on just a day trip, but i've never ridden there, and would like to! if ever the weather would cooperate on one of my longer weekends. doing a run and ride this weekend as a friend is doing local cx races so she's wanting to build up her running and riding abilities... i'm just along for exercise!

This place is cooler than Brown County. Much more rugged and rocky. The southern Sheltowee Trace Trail is where these pictures were taken. Deanna, its worth the drive!

i'm stuck here doing a road ride and you go and show me pics! mnyeah! does the place drain fairly well or not? wishing temps here in IN would cool off enough so the ground would freeze. i've ridden down in KY before, just not there. otter creek w/ snow is quite, uhm... INTERESTING! =)

Nov 23, 2002 8:38 AM
Deanna,

Yes it drains well. The soil makeup is not nice on your bike though. Very gritty when wet. Chain suck happens towards the end of some wetter rides. Horses use these trails year round.....that is one issue with drainage. Most of the trail is fine, but sometimes you hit a long wet spot that is holding water. Most of the trail is on a ridge or decent, very little flat.

I'm sure we'll ride there a few more times over the winter. Send me an email and I'll copy you on our next ride. zigguraut@hotmail.com

Are you the same AlphaDog on the OMBA board?

I have not yet ridden Hueston Woods...it's about an hour and a half away. I've ridden Caesar's a good bit, but not so much recently as I hear it's gone downhill fast.
re: BIKES!!!!!!!!!!!AlphaDog
Nov 22, 2002 10:54 PM
Bikernate,

Yes, I'm the same as on OMBA.

Hueston is fun, but not an out and back like Caesers, you need to learn your way around to like it.

Do you ever ride Cave Run in KY, or Nebo Ridge in IN ? Those trails are worth the drive from Ohio.

Nope, haven't ridden there. I don't really get around much...poor college student. I drove to Caesar's frequently when I was a freshman and gas was cheaper. I ride John Bryan occasionally (it's close...and I can ride there if I'm up for 2 hours of road riding along with some mtb). I've been to Alum Creek a couple times, and AEP once. I rode Tsali a couple years ago, also. When I'm home (Indianapolis), I ride either Town Run or Mt. Comfort (private).

here is my Rocket 88 from my lunchtime ride on the Buttermilk Trail this summer.
Have you ridden that section?fonseca
Nov 22, 2002 12:02 PM
I ride buttermilk and forest hill trails occasionally. I have only done that section once, last summer. I took the line close to the steps, and almost made it all the way down. Crashed hard, bike was unscratched but I had blood under the skin on one leg for weeks. Made it over the rocks with no problem but caught my wheel on a wooden beam near the end. I haven't worked up the nerve to try it since then.

That's one set of stairs I won't ride either; they are ridiculously steep, but I could do them if it wasn't for the platform halfway down.

Here's a shot of a friend flying down the halfpipe at Powhite. I meant to take the photo as he caught air but was a second too early:
