What was your method? How did you lose 8+ pounds a month? Lets here a little bit about how you did this. Once again congrats.

Ryan.

I'm a weight watcher. I stopped drinking alchohol. I go out and play twice a day. Most folks call it working out. The real test is keeping the extra pounds off. Time will tell if I can remain dedicated to my health.

Now, instead of looking like a Harley Davidson biker, you look like a mountain-biker! Great job!

did you start drinking alot more water? I have heard so many people say thats the key to losing weight (aside from exercise). Did you use that method?

Im trying to lose 10-15lbs, its tough...than I see someone who lost 70lbs.....very impressive!

Water is a component of weight watchers approach. I have tried and been successfull on a variety of programs that push water. It's the points system that makes weight wtachers easy and sustainable for me. If you set your mind to losing that 10 - 15 ponds I know you can do it.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words.
I've read/heard that.......JimW

many times when a person thinks they are hungry and gets those "pangs"

a glass of water will do the trick better than a snickers bar.

What we mistake for hunger pangs are actually thirst pangs.

Of course I could be completely wrong about this....

..bowling balls and butter...nothing!! 70 pounds equils 1.5 to 2 freeride bikes. Let's keep this in perspective.

Any hoot..that's SUPER!!! Keep up the good work. One should have to work hard to go downhill!!!

Slim Dirt!!!!

Dec 15, 2002 5:20 PM
Doing something u love + Improving ur health = 4 bowling balls lighter.
Damn... the most impressive thing aint the wieght though...gw
Dec 15, 2002 5:39 PM
atleast to me. More impressive is that for 8+ months you still have the same bike, same parts, and mostly the same gear (helmet, camel back, shoes). I cant go a month without trading some part out or getting something new...
I had that same thought. GoodDuckman

Well I had no money left after I bought that Turner. Just Kidding.....lets see the Knickers, arm warmers, kodiak vest were all newish, but the Durango wheel club jersey is from deep in the dresser drawer. Purchased in '87 around the last time I was below the 200 mark. A really close inspection would uncover new Brake lines, new rear derailer hanger, new cable and housing on the rear derailer, new rear tire, the second new chain since March, and new slime tubes for desert riding. So I'm addicted to bike parts as well or I'm really hard on equipment. Oh and the fork was factory rebuilt after It broke, so there's probably new seals and oil in there. And that's just one of my bikes. Thank God I put most of my saddle time on a single speed.

glad I started the challenge - and my program is significantly more affordable than Weight Watchers!

I am holding on to 175. I think my goal for next spring will be 165.

how do you wolf-whistle on this thing? congrats - that's a fantastic achievement. good luck in maintenance. if you have the motivation to lose it, i'm sure you have the motivation to maintain it.
Bowling balls as motivation?Bonee
Dec 16, 2002 11:17 AM
Good idea, I used to use Steaks to motivate me. I was haing a little cookout for me and wifey a few years back and bought some nice t-bones. 1.5 pounds each. All we had was the steak and a salad. So I'm eating this steak realizing how big it is, yet still just 1.5 pounds.

Sadly, I realized I was about 15 pounds more than the weight at which I feel best. I then imagined 10 of these steaks spread out all over my body. Pretty disgusting image, so I posted pictures of 10 steaks in my cube and lost 15 pounds. Everytime I lost 3 pounds I pulled 2 steaks off and threw them away.

So it worked, but I've seemed to regained them and will start afresh in January. Just too stressed with holidays to be overly converned right now.

Good job by the way.
I dropped 50 in the past year thanks to mntn bikingterrain

Getting bit by the mountain biking bug helped out a lot, I went from a lazy oaf to an addicted rider.

Cutting out fast food, alochol(mostly), and Mt. Dew makes a huge difference. If you are overweight, it's not hard to drop weight simply by watching what you eat and doing something active.

Kansas City is one of the most overweight cities in the US, I'm happy I'm no longer part of that statistic.
Excellent job !! nmJimW

I have the same shoes. I am proud of you my man. I am 21 and have been mountain biking for 10 mo; lost 30 lbs. in that time and gained a heck of alot of muscle. Ride the heaviest bike you can find and carry way, way more water than you need is my lil credo. Do you drink alot of coffee?

rock on,

jay
