Great riding with a bunch of new friends. The only guys I knew heading up to Annadel were Ed and Paul and only becuase we met yesterday at the Demo Forrest. Thanks for the lift and the ride Ed. Sorry in advance if I wreck anyone's name.

Disclaimer: If you have a thing against riding in the mud use the BACK button on your browser at this time....

up to Santa Rosa in the truck. pfunk said it best on the mbtb5 email list with the subject "where is the freakin rain?" which is what I asked myself when I first saw Friday morning. She was making a futile attempt to rejoin the pilgrimage. I was blissfully unaware of these goings-on however. I decided that it was nice here (Morgan Hill) and now, and forget driving to Santa Rosa. I was going to cancel Annadel on account of rain, and make a mad dash up to Coe for a short loop before the inevitable dumping of rain. Whoever could make it would, no big deal. Then I read my email.

I had only one message, having been up 'til 1am fooling around, even the spammers had called it a night. The message was from TimB, battman42, UncleMTB. All of a sudden, after four months of planning, he can magically join our ride. WTF? Well, I just couldn't say no, so after talking to Tim on the phone I called jrm (who called pimpbot), TimL, laffeaux (and friends Larry and Max), and PaulJ. Pilgrimage on.

We actually made it up the whole first, sticky climb up Spring Creek before it started raining. We had to go up Spring Creek, because Canyon Trail is closed for repair. It rained pretty good up Marsh Trail. The first part of Ridge has some tree cover, but the second half is all exposed, and it was raining pretty good.

We went around the marsh to Marsh Trail, up and down both parts of Burma, climbed Live Oak, and rode out on Rough-Go. It was all fun. Like being a kid and doing something you know you're going to get in trouble for, but not caring kinda fun. (I know that should've been hyphenated, but I'm not going back and doing it.) There were a couple times when we were regrouping that it got a little cold, but not bad. Yahoo says the high was 63f. You can see in the pics that some of us were just wearing jerseys. It was take-a-shower wet. The socks I wore went to the big hamper in the sky.

Thanks guys! Best ride of the week!

If I have that much pull, it should be easy.

Not that riding with y'all wasn't fun...there's just something about being mid pak with a bunch of women.

It has only happened to me once...at AZSF with MaryEllen leading the group...ahhh Memories.

I'll show my appreciation when we hook-up in a week...and unless it is much warmer it won't involve bathing in creeks.

Timmiiiiie!

More women need to get into the act. Then the men would have something other than "Plumbers Butt" to look at while riding.

A little planet of the apes crack showing never hurt anyone!!! I'm gonna start carrying a pipe wrench in my back pocket.

But I have no problem riding behind more women riders in tights.

...muddier and wetter, probably by double, than what I've ever seen up there. Total carnage. It's amazing that nobody was really pissed. We all had a great time. Maybe Larry wasn't really expecting it to be so technical and long. We rode about 17 miles.
Looks like you had a good timechuckha

I ended up stuck at work til 3:30. I drove up Parktrail and saw all your vehicles. I was jealous. I wish I could have ridden and met you all. We'll try again. Great Pics!

I'm proud of you guys and your determination!

My calendar is so "F"d up this month. Would have loved to participate.

I gotta tell you though -- this weather is KILLING me! Even if I was available, I'd be pretty wishy-washy. It absolutely poured here last night.

Nice pics.

I had no idea where we were most of the time, but those shots were very early in the ride. Short climb from parktrail then the steep rocky section.

We call it Carissa.Fast Eddy

It is indeed the drop-in from the trail that comes up from Parktrail. It's closer to Carissa.

Sorry you guys were all wet, but Annadel looks gorgeous in the spring with all the soft green fields and flowers. The only time I saw it was July, when most of the grass was dead.

We had fantastic weather for an AZ mini gathering today, doing 2 long shuttle runs off Pinal Peak. PaulB, DaBreeze, MSCinAZ, SunDog and 8 others.
Nice, very nice. Those pictures are awsome.Biking Viking

Except I think they look a tad soft - but that may be a personal preference. Here's what it looks like when sharpened in PhotoShop - not that it makes those two clowns look any sharper, though.
