...in a bid to keep up with kykyw:

kykyw "My first ride on my birthday bike with my Dad" 5/20/03 8:30pm

His pictures came out better though. My good camera's in the shop. Sorry if they're too big, or there are too many. This is kinda like a page in our photo album.

We didn't take any pictures before the top.

On Ridge, before the helipad, after we passed some guys who were resting

Down Ridge, just before Braille

Log pile, just at the picnic bench

On a food stop at the picnic bench

This view is better than this picture

Near the top of Tractor

Down Tractor

Tractor is long

Tractor is really long, and STIL

At the bottom

Happy that he doesn't yet know it's a 3.5 mile climb out

At the top, actually racing a guy for the gate

very cool! nmpfunk

Cool pics! Looks like he had fun.
I went back and looked at the timestamps on the pictures.Fast Eddy

There is a statistical problem with the photos. The first 12 are taken from the top of the hill at 1:08 to the bottom of the hill at 1:52. So these pics are from 44 minutes where we didn't have to go uphill out of over 4 hours. That's why he looks like he had nothing but fun. I'm sure there's over 2000' of climbing on that loop. The last pic was at 2:56, so it took about an hour to climb out.
if he's like most peoplelaffeaux

If he's like most people, within an hour of finishing the ride he'd forgetten about the long climb and only remembered the fun downhills.
Congrats Nick...Nice pics Dad...UncleMTB

Mary and I will be looking forward to your next ride at Boggs.

We are hosting the next two weekends if you are able to convince your Dad to come up...

Gettin' the kids ready for the Bullards bar ride during Downieville!!!

Hey...your son is 8 years old and is riding a hardtail (which takes better bike handling skills)than a Kona full boinger. Plus, how many dads are cool enough to ride a full rigid steel SS???!!!

Very cool pictures, I can't wait until I can ride with my son. Keep riding with him and enjoy every minute of it!
Oh, I almost forgot...Fast Eddy

I did the first experiment at removing training wheels for my little guy. He's not quite ready but the desire is there.

You're a lucky men, I wish I had one.

Thanks for sharing, I particularly like the one where he's sitting on a log with a big tums up, it's sure is framing for the office material.

I did ride the demo forest when I was around once or twice, nice place to ride. Maybe next time we visit he can race me to the gate.

Happy trail,

Annie

*GET HIS FRIGGIN HELMET DOWN OVER HIS FOREHEAD* !!!!!

If that MTBer of yours does a face-plant - and smacks his forehead on a rock.....

Ahhhh, chills run up and down my spine.

Great Pics - but *PUH_LEASE* have him wear his helmet properly -

Dude you are too right.

My 7 year old son used to ride with his helmet back like that. Then one day, he did an endo on some gravel shake and then WHHAAAAAMMMM!

Right on the forehead between the eyes at the bridge of the nose.

I was sure he had broken his nose, but then he looked up howling but no blood. Aprox 5 seconds later, massive blood gushnig out of both nostrils.

I was going to go 911, but the boy scout in me took over - raised the feet and bleeding stopped in about 5 minutes.
I agree, big time.......Stine

I was so distracted by it, I couldn't fully enjoy the pictures!

Trick 1. Getting them to wear it at all.

Trick 2. Getting them to wear it correctly.

Still, if I forget about the helmet (hard to do), it's really cool that he's enjoying time with his dad.

(isn't it the frontal lobe that has most of the important stuff for intelligence and reasoning?)
Was thinking the same thingpedalAZ

I went out with my 9 yr old and bought him a new helmet that would stay put better after seeing him do the same thing. I've also seen kayakers regret not having a good helmet position covering their foreheads. I'm even thinking of getting my son a full coverage lid for when we ride stuff that is more challenging for him.
Will adjust.Fast Eddy

If I was half as paranoid as you all, I wouldn't even consider let him riding without a full-face of some kind. I'd be more worried about his nose and chin than his forehead.

Yeah. I got fired up when I saw those pictures of your son riding the Forest. You must have been stoked to spend the day out there with him.

Before too long you'll be chasing to keep up with him.

We missed you by a little bit. It would have been cool to bump into you at the overlook. We got up there a little after 11A, and I have no idea what time it was when we got up to the helispot for lap 2. But we were most definitely there at overlapping times. i am pretty shelled from the effort yesterday.

How is your Thursday morning looking? check your email.
