Well the good news is I finally got my 5 spot the other day, and what a great bike it is, the bad news is the hell I went through to get it. I ordered it in Febuary, but due to delays @ Turner it didn't come in till begining of June. To make matters worse when Beyond called me to tell me it was in, I was in the middle of buying a new house, so my money was tied up up for a couple of weeks, so I asked them to hold it. They did but sold the rear shock to some one. The shock finally gets in, but they didn't order the hard ware to mount it. When the bike is finally ready to ship there was a problem with my credit card company, I got that straitened out, the bike ships, but when it gets to my door parts are missing. The XT rear der, was not sent, the brake lines weren't the right ones, so I spent a few hours running from LBS to LBS trying to get the right stuff. I do realize not all their fault, but when the prob. with the credit card came up they should have called me, they didn't wasted another day waiting for my bike. The long and short of it is, I used to have good luck with Beyond Bikes with smaller orders, but when I dumped $2800.00 with them they left me high and dry. I can say this I am done with Beyond. From now on I will be doing my ordering with Jenson, or my LBS.
not really kosher to sell the shock, but they ARE a businessJm

which means they are intrested in making money, not holding on to bikes and stuff. I ONLY order a frame or bike when I know that I have the money, there are times when I could come "close" or maybe sqeeze through significantly in advance, but I make sure I have a good amount to fall back on, bikes are bought with my EXTRA money, if you don't have it set aside and free from any other tie-ups, you shouldn't have ordered it and you would not have had this problem at all. I can't say that what beyond did is cool(but ive never had any problems with them), but what you did is not cool either and in the end, they exist to make money and sell stuff.

You slapped them in the face when yo put it on hold....they slapped you in the face. I'd say "get over it", but I think everyone will agree they went over the edge...but in the end you probably won't make the same mistake again?

They made me put a deposit on a frame, but said if I didn't want it I could use the money on something else. I called them back, because of an unexpected financial problem, and said I would use my deposit on a saddle. They charged my whole deposit ($100) for a $60 saddle! Was it $40 for shipping a saddle? I ended my buisness with them right there. They're good at hooking you and taking your money.

I didn't just order the frame, I gave them $1000.00 deposit on it. I told them that I would have the cash in 2 weeks, and I did. They sold the shock, even thought I had a hefty deposit on the frame.

The short short short version of what happened to me.

I bought an Id from them in April. They told me I'd have it by the weekend. I didn't. They charged my CC. Held the bike for another week saying they forgot a part and were waiting on it. Said I'd have it the following Friday for my big weekend ride I had planned. It didn't arrive. Saturday at 1PM it arrived. Three weeks after they said I would have it, I finally got it. The thing is, if they would have said it would take a month to get it, I would have been fine with it. But don't rope me in with this BS about having it to me in a week when you know you can't get all the parts w/in that time.

I will never buy anything again from them...and neither will any of my friends. And one of my friends is thinking about an ID or a Truth or a Blur or a Heckler. And he is damn sure he won't spend the money at Beyond Sucks my nads Bikes.

When you're buying high-zoot frame like a Turner, it's always a good idea to ask around regarding availability and price. For example, I have a red medium 5 Spot in stock.

Especially that idiot Kerry that is their "sales manager". I won't go into it but here is the letter I wrote. Just in case you're interested...

Dear Sirs,

I am writing with regard to a very serious problem with one of your representatives claiming to be your Sales Manager. To begin with this was a very simple problem regarding the delivery of a Niterider Storm HID light (Reference number 97337628). The problem is that UPS would not deliver this light without a signature and there is no way I can be at home during their normal delivery times. Likewise, my company has a policy against having personal items delivered to work and making it to the specified UPS location during normal hours is NOT possible as it is too far from my work. Unfortunately, even though I am local your limited business hours combined with my work hours make it difficult for me to visit your store, hence the reason I placed AN ORDER in the first place. Therefore I was left no alternative but to refuse the order and have it returned to your warehouse. While I fully understand the reasons for requiring this signature it does NOT justify the manner in which I was treated by your sales staff when I attempted to resolve this issue.

This morning (February 4, 2003) I called to see if there were any options as I still very much wanted (and needed) this light. In attempting to resolve this issue your "sales manager" insinuated that I am in some way trying to defraud you. Then proceeded to interrogate me as why I couldn't a) be home, b) pick it up c) have someone else pick it up d) have it delivered to my place of work etc. and perhaps worst of all he made remarks in the process of all this designed to degrade me. For example, asking why my "boyfriend" couldn't pick it up the light. Obviously insinuating that I was gay. I am an avid cyclist who is actively involved in mountain biking on many levels. I recently moved To San Diego along with my wife and family from Colorado where I was the President of Trail Conservation Services, an IMBA sponsored club that built and maintained the majority of trails on Denver's southern front range, ran the Front Range Mountain Bike Patrol and provided trail marshals for the Red Cross Fat Tire Classic, a 2000 rider fund raiser in Winter Park Colorado. Since moving to San Diego I am just now beginning to become involved with SDMBA having lead a trail crew for them two weeks ago in Sycamore Canyon. Consequently I have worked with many sponsoring bike shops and as you can imagine spent a significant amount of money on cycling equipment (I was buying a 300.00 bike light for God's sake) and I have NEVER been treated with the lack of respect that was given to me by beyondbikes.com.

If my order has not been canceled I demand that it be. You have not only lost an order, you have lost a customer who sees the value in supporting local businesses. I believe that customer service is one of the utmost responsibilities of any business and in this regard you have failed miserably, not to mention crossed the lines of discrimination implied by your representative. I would hope that at the very least you examine the practices of those working for you, as if this is a routine occurrence it is amazing to me that you are still in business.

If you have any questions I will be very happy to discuss them with you further. My home telephone number is listed on my signature.

Sincerely,

Dr. Timothy C. Nichols
