This is good news for the forests and riding! We have rain here in Anacortes off and on. You can almost hear Ma nature say "Ahhhhh". The trails here are in perfect condition.
The rain arrived last night. Good, solid rain!AlanB

The showers last Saturday gave a mere 1cm of rain. Just a tease, but we appreciated it nontheless.

This morning I woke up to the pitter-patter of a steady rainfall. It's falling again right now in Burnaby, so the North Shore has got to be getting a good soaking.

I'm hoping this will lower the fire hazard enough for the woods to be opened up this weekend. Mind you I'm also hoping we leave some moisture in the clouds and send it up to Kelowna. They need it more than we do.

DNV says "We will look at the Ministry of Forests Hazard Rating on Thursday, September 11th for guidance." You can check MoF at http://www.news.gov.bc.ca/default.asp?organisation_obj_id=0b00921e80002cac

It won't be long before the trails are back to normal.
Shore is now open, as of 4:00pm today...CraigH

some shallow troughs are helping, but mostly its due to a wind sheer vorticity helping creat some divergence and before you know it, rain!

Looks like our rain and T-storms are finally starting to go away-thankfully.

Portland has been getting soaked since Sunday. It was supposed to stop today. I looked out the window when I got up this morning, and the road was dryish. But it started raining (agian) when I was getting ready to leave for work. I'm not ready to get wet on my bike yet. So, I caught the bus.

Sigh.....

Tim

(who just put lights back on the commuter bike. Sigh... I'm still not yet done windsurfing this season. Sigh...)
Damn, wish it would stop!K'Endo

With a little luck it will continue like this for several days so I can cut my lawn again.

I do not want to use it all up here though, the firefighters in the interior of BC could really use some relief.

The Districts of North and West Vancouver are pleased to report that the recent cooler weather has reduced the Provincial Forest Hazard rating. Therefore, effective 4:00 p.m. September 10th, the Districts of North and West Vancouver and GVRD forested trail network is reopened and the restrictions are now lifted.

It may take one or two days to remove all closure signage, but persons may now enter the forests without penalty.

We thank the public for its cooperation and invite residents and visitors to continue to enjoy the beauty of our forested areas.

Districts of North and West Vancouver, GVRD.
