Mt. Hood Ride Invitation(3 posts)

Fall is coming, and it is time once again for the annual ride up on Mt. Hood. This year it is scheduled for Saturday 10/5, and here is the program:

9:30 -- Meet at Road 32 off HWY 26. This is the next road east of Camp Creek campground on the south side of HWY 26. It is also east of Rhododendron.

10:00 -- Start riding. Here is the loop:

A. Hop on the Still Creek trail. This is a mile or two long single track that goes over a ridge.

B. Turn east onto Still Creek Road. This will be a 10 mile gentle gravel road climb. We will ride up to Trillium Lake. At Trillium Lake, we turn north through a campground and climb up to Government Camp. The beauty of this route is that we only spend about 1/4 mile on HWY 26.

C. Climb up to Timberline Lodge and have lunch.

D. Drop down the Alpine ski trial.

E. Make a right on the Cross Town trail.

F. Continue on to the Pioneer Bridle trail (or some name like that).

G. End up back at the cars...

I don't recall the figures exactly, but this route has about 15+ miles of climbing for 10+ miles of descending and single-track bliss. The route can be cut shorter by picking up the Cross Town trail at Government Camp and skipping the Timberline climb. Shoot me an email if you are interested. I'll put you on a separate email list for this event.

Cheers,

Tim
