| George Jefferson National Forest - Ride Report + PICS | JackFromNC Sep 11, 2003 3:22 AM | | A few of us NC boys decided to move on up, to the east coast, to a deluxe NF for a ride. Weezy! OK, OK on with the ride report. Well it turns out that GJNF has a few things in common with PNF. All the trails were clearly marked, there were zero hike-a-bikes, the climbs were all easy, and the DH's barely warmed the brakes.
To start the day off, there was a minute bit of climbing, but the steepest was only 1000 ft in 1 mile and were a few cheesy switchbacks or you would not even have had to move your bars.
Here I am moving on up.

And there I go, climb, climb, climb.

Here's a tighter switchback. Do you think he'll clean it

Of course, it's a cake walk.

The FR double track climb did have the tiniest bit of scree.

I do believe we found the place that the trail fairies stash all the rocks when they remove them from the technical trails (sanitizing). What 'ya think? - Left of center look good to you?

Most of the downhill run was (yawn) buff and nothing really stood out.

Some downhill sections were so lame, you actually had to pedal to keep moving.

Somehow I managed to endo while climbing (leave it to me). Severely bent disc rotor, took out a spoke, and a few scrapes and bruises on my knee, hip, and elbow. No real carnage though.

Like PNF, the views in GJNF were not very impressive. I bet the other trails in the area are more of the same.

Happy trails.

| Wish someone would have told me about this ride... | Bmateo Sep 11, 2003 3:41 AM | | Just kidding. Looks like you all had a good time. I hate I missed it, but must have been mentally "with you" as I also blew out a spoke and FUBAR my wheel on Sunday (dead end @ tar).
Maybe next time...
