| White Rim Benefit Ride for Boulder Valley YMCA Y-Riders | Maren Sep 11, 2003 7:13 AM | | A Friend and I are organizing an informal, no-red-tape extreme benefit ride to raise funds for Boulder, Colorado YMCA's youth cycling program, the Y-Riders, and would like for you to join us. 100% of the money raised from this event will go to the Y-Riders. Specifically, the funds will be allocated to the following buckets:
1) A Bike Workshop fund so the YMCA can help kids learn to work on their bikes and give them true life-skills training
2) A fund for basic outfitting of the Y-Riders' Jr. Racing Team
3) A Long-term account to start a program to purchase bikes for those kids who could not otherwise afford participation
We would like to raise $10,000 US. Half or twice that would also be fine. At the very least, we expect each participating rider to get $100 in pledges and of course, the more the better.
We'll ride the entirety of Moab's White Rim MTB trail on Saturday, October 4th. It's like 104 miles (right?). We will have a sag wagon/support vehicle for anyone that needs it. This vehicle will carry extra water, spare parts, food, beer, etc. Trail info: http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/trails/whiterim-tg.htm
At this point, we need to know who is interested (just send an email to dmaren at maren8 dot com AND quasimoto at matthewclark dot com). To keep this as fun and manageable as possible we will be limiting the number of participants to 25. SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED GET BACK TO US QUICKLY. Feel free to invite friends along too. Just make sure they get back in touch with us quickly and make sure they realize that they will have to get at least $100 in pledges. Once we get your commitment, we will supply you with the materials you need to get pledges: a letter for potential donors and postage-paid, pre-addressed envelopes (donors send the money straight to the YMCA).
PLEASE JOIN US FOR SOME REALLY GOOD FUN. HELP US DO SOMETHING GREAT FOR THE KIDS.
