Stupid little bridge I made today(11 posts)

Stupid little bridge I made todayJisch

Cut down yet another ant infested tree the other day (I heat my house with wood). As it fell, the trunk split in half yielding another piece for the TAMH.

After all is said and done, I think I made this one too easy. I'll have to see what I can do to spice it up. I don't necessarily want it higher, but it needs something to make the entry/exit more difficult. Another day I'll get to that. Maybe take out the rocks on the exit?

It built backwards as the trail actually goes in the opposite direction from how I am riding it here. So I guess that means flipping it around and taking out the rocks. Might make a decent launch.

Another side view:

From the front you can see the hollowed out log.

It's great to see the creative human mind at work. The difference between you and me is that I would have opened a beer and thought about building a bridge, while you actually did it.

Go Bro!

Now, why don't you build a big teeter-totter and post some pics of your first trip over it?
Got one...Jisch

I built a teeter totter in the spring... Its part of the trail around my house, I've posted it before, but here it is again...

As with the "bridge" its a mini...

On a trail called Boogieman, there's a large canoe log; in the centre is a teeter totter, suspended via a chain, so it moves side to side as well as front to back. I can't ride the d@mn thing, but many do.

Nice work but how many ants were killed in the making of your still shots? ;P Jim
No ants were killedi n the making of this stuntJisch

The ants must have abandoned this one after they got done with it, because it was empty when it hit the ground. Sometimes when I split wood in the winter I'll hit a log that has an ant colony in it. The ants are all frozen into little BBs. If you pick one up and breath on it to warm it up, it unfolds and runs away.

Eventually I guess they'll do the same thing to Ted Williams and Walt Disney.

You know, if you keep this up and continue building up all of these various skills, there's gonna be very little that you can't handle on the "real" rides.

Don't discount what you're learning from these little practice rides with obstacles around your house. These experiences will always come in handy on rides.

Cheers, Jisch.

I don't think it's stupid, well 'cept for the part that it's going the wrong way. Looks like fun!
The reason its stupid...Jisch

When I saw the canoe log I had big dreams about how I could use it. It looked like it was a fairly sizeable chunk o' wood. I was originally thinking teeter totter or swinging bridge or something. After I started messing with it, I realized just how short it is. It was hard to use it for anything exciting.

It that wasn't evident while I was building, it certainly was after I saw the pictures. I've always had a fear of narrow bridges, maybe after riding this one I'll get more confident about them. It is very easy to ride, but blink and you'll miss it.

I think the next thing is going to be a nice log pile. I can make that with the rotten or half rotten/mis-sized/knotty logs that I can't use in the stove. I've got a couple of other log based stunts, but no real log piles like in the "real world".

I had a nice ride out in the real world today. Some rain, but the rocks didn't get slick, the roots on the other hand were killer.

Overcoming a fear, building up confidence is a good thing. Having fun doing it is even better. My hat's off to you!
