'NATCH?(6 posts)

'NATCH?Greg

My Surly 1 X 1 arrived today and there is a sticker on the seat tube just above the bottom bracket that reads 'NATCH. Everyone at the shop was stumped as to what it could mean. Anyone here know?

in the world i live in, 'natch' is an abbreviation for 'naturally', used when something is darn obvious but you want to make a point of it anyway... maybe here it relates to the sticker that says the steel the frame is made of or to the 'oneness' of the whole damn thing.

don't know that, but i'll bet it rides great, whether you understand all of its stickers or not!

cheers all, Toast.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it indicates that the frame is steel...."naturally". Check out the surly website, I think you'll find reference to this.

Yeah, 'Natch is short for naturally, and the sticker on your frame should say 4130 'Natch. I know it as the Cro-Mo steel all decent BMX bikes used to be made of back in the day.

It did occur to me that 'NATCH could be short for naturally but it seemed like kind of a stretch so I dismissed it. I figured it was another acronym like the "FFF" (fatties fit fine) on the chainstays. Thanks for your input. By the way, this my first SS. I should have it all built today. I'm stoked.
