The countdown begins...terminaut

I just officially plopped down a sizeable down payment for my next custom singlespeed. ETA, 10 weeks.

It's something 100% of my own specs, and I want to keep the details skimpy other than saying that as of the current plans it'll have an EBB, discs, horizontal drops, designed around an 80mm fork's geometry, and comes with a custom rigid titanium one.

It's gonna be a lonnnnnng wait...

You mean 'vertical' drops, right?

Nice job, Tam. Can't wait to see it (read borrow it)
It's even worse I think...terminaut

I'm still undecided on vertical vs. horizontal drops... mainly for (might seem odd) aesthetic reasons. I'll let you ride it anytime you wanna cruise down here again. :-)

Hey Term,

Read a few days ago but didn't have time to post about your operation? Hope your recovery time is faster than the time you are going to have to wait for your new custom job! But your current stable must be happy to have a break from your incesant riding schedule!

Get well soon and will do whatever it takes here to help----

Hey there Bigwheel! I'm pretty sure I'll healed by the time I get my custom jobber. Right now I'm spending my downtime on setting up my cross bike for an upcoming hillclimb event... Hey, it's almost like a 29'er eh? ;-)

Thanks for the lead on the jersey - I think it's enroute to me already.
Congrats Term. Give us a hint and tell us...Billy

Sounds great, Term. Except for one thing. I'm scratching my head wondering why you would favor the deficiencies of horizontal dropouts over the benefits of verticals merely for the sake of asthetics. I know I'm a "new" SS guy (and therefore possibly more open to changes in design/style/etc than you old "purists") but if the choice comes down to tradition vs. technology, I'll accept a genuine improvement any day. Besides, an EBB and horiz drops are "belt and suspenders."

'Course, you're one of those guys who rides rigid forks, too. Still can't figger that one out, either.

This point brings up the greatest aspect of a custom frame. It's YOUR frame and nobody elses. You can do what you want and no matter what anybody else says, your own hard earned dollars say it's your decision. And that it's right for you.

'Scoo, brutha.

P.S. Dyin' ta see it.

Yeah... I know it sounds redundant but trust me, for my project the frame really wants to have horizontal drops...

To be honest, I'm really dyin' to see it myself! It's gonna be a good wait though.
