| My fork "shivers" when I brake!!! | maySS Apr 16, 2002 3:46 PM | | It's a steel rigid off a Voodoo. Doesn't do it on dirt. Should I worry about this? Do I need a brake booster? Should I upgrade to a Project 2 (I kinda like the rigid)? I have NEVER had a bike do this.... it's weird. |
| check your brakes. | KgB Apr 16, 2002 6:17 PM | | I had the same problem with my bianchi cross bike.
It was a brake issue with mine.I cleaned and lightly sanded the rims and brake pads and that helped. |
| Yes..Probably your brakes... | T O M A Apr 17, 2002 4:51 AM | | I had the same problem with my kinesis alu fork on my cross bike. at first i thought,
i "Damn Piece of Flexy $hit Kinesis"
Turns out i just needed to adjust my brakes! |
| it's the fork | club Apr 17, 2002 5:33 AM | | that's not uncommon with flexy fore/aft rigid forks, when combined with very grippy, efficient brake pads. try harder, less efficient pads, like shimano pads. |
| Yep, Powerful brakes and grippy tire = fork shutter | shiggy Apr 17, 2002 11:38 AM | | Had it happen many times. I would not worry about it and I would not re-adjust the brakes. I prefer the more powerful brakes and it shutter rarely happens in the dirt. |
