Well, last night I installed the Manitou fork on the Chester. It looks funny and feels funny. You be the judge.

Hi there! -My suggestion would be to turn the stem uppside down. This will lover your position, and propably bring it closer to what you're used to. An alternative is to use a zero-rise stem.

Ohh! -Nice bike by the way!

Looks like you installed a suspension fork onto the made for a rigid fork Ute. Yup it will steer funny, the head angle is now way slacker than how Chester specs the Ute. It will be slow and stable on the long fast decents though.

You're right. We'll see how it does @ Rockville this weekend. There are some nice climbs and downhills. If I like it, I like it, if not, I'll reinstall the Kenisis I had on it and sell the Manitou.

Well, I do, sometimes. Your bike looks fine. However, give us the scoop on how it rides after you've put some time on it.

Bet you get a lotta wheel flop! Like I said earlier, you could get used to anything...

Hope this helps your hands!
You're right, it does look funny...TD

Ernesto, send it to me and I will let you know if it feels funny .

Kidding. Yeah, it feels like it just wants to do wheelies, but I can get used to it. This happens more when I set the 100mm setting on the fork. But what the heck. I have to reride the course on Saturday of the http://www.toastedhead.com/race.html I am putting together.

Then we'll see how it performs.

SS DEMONS!!! GAAA!!!!!!ernesto

So it gets a little loud in the office with the blabbermouth I have to work next to. So I went home on the Chester steed to pick up my huge headphones so I can concentrate on the ftp and html updates I have to do. I live a couple of blocks from the office.

So I ride back and I noticed that I must have run over something sharp. Nothing like riding and getting a flat. DA!

Stupid SS Demons are at it again. I figure I'll install Mr. Tuffy's in my tires. I don't need the grief.
A bizarre pattern or coincidence....anon

I to was working on some HTML (actually a JavaScript) when I decided to take a break and prepare my bike for a ride this afternoon. What do I find? A flat tire. I just rode yesterday so it was from sitting, very strange though....and on top of all that, I'm getting used to the new angles on this bike also. Thinking of different stem.

Coincidence? You be the judge. Maybe it's some evil anit-SS HTML!

Yeah, HTML demi-gods cursing our everyway. I think I pissed them off when I put on the Black fork on the Matt Chester beauty.

When my wife and I have kids, and if we have a girl, I am going to maim her name into Matt Chester Martinez...HAHAHAHA!!!

No, more like Fay.

You keep those DOPE Oury grips, it's all good! I did the same thing a few years ago with a rigid Fisher hardtail. Man, that bike handled like a chimp on crack until I got 'used' to it. I ended up cutting about 1/2" of the elastomer stack out of my '97 Manitou FS, and kept the sag pretty soft. This worked really well when I kept the rebound damping to almost nothing.
