removeable clamp brake levers(2 posts)

removeable clamp brake leversclimbo

looking for a brake lever that has a removable clamp (i.e. goes on and off without removing bar tape) for my fixed gear, anyone know where to get one that isn't very expensive? I only need one (front brake only) which is also a problem. Thanks.

You just gotta hit your local old LBS... look around their junk parts drawer for an old non-aero brake lever and make sure the clamp that holds on to the bar can split apart so you can unclip it from the bar after you uncrew the lever. About half the time, the nut that the lever gets screwed into is pretty well fixed to the clamp, but that leaves the other half for you to root through. If you don't mind doing a little work like this, a good number of old brake levers (pre-80's, that is), will do the job.

good luck
