Another day, another jam on Tam... (6 posts)
| Another day, another jam on Tam... | tamjam Jun 27, 2002 3:27 PM | | Went out yesterday on my usual 1.5 hour mid-week "maintenance" ride and decided to take the camera this time, since the views along the ride have been so good with our typical summertime fog that slowly creeps from the Pacific over the Marin Headlands. Yes, I'm on the geary, but my legs have felt so heavy yesterday I decided I'd ride some easier gears. This pic is about halfway into the ride looking back from Tam towards SF, which would be visible in the distance if it weren't for the fog rolling in over the hills. Anyway, the ride itself is totally boring, so I have no exciting descriptions there, but the views make the ride much less mind numbing. |

One day we'll have to hook up ride Mr.tamjam |
| nice | DAS Jun 28, 2002 8:14 AM | | how many Soccer Mom's did you spot up there, guy?
You should be doing Green Gulch everyday, guy. Come on. |
| Guy, | tamjam Jun 28, 2002 9:35 AM | | That Green Gulch ride sucks. Who wants to ride 45 minutes UP single track only to have the road as your only option down? I think I'd rather have a root canal. It takes way longer than I have time for during the week also.
Very few MILFs out there. And no super hot skinny chicks with black hair, green eyes, freckles, and flat tan little bellies waiting for me at the bottom with a can of Red Bull. |

I'm toying with the idea of buying a WB for the Hunter...
Thanks~
Marty
ps:nice ride BTW, you like it? |

For starters, I will say that I am not the greatest critic of forks. I have only ridden 3 in my time- an old Judy SL, the '99 Marzocchi on my backup SS, and the WB. Most of my early MTB years were spent on a Bontrager Racelite rigid fork and Softride stem. That said, the WB feels really nice. It's very plush, I don't feel any stiction, and so far it has been zero maintenance. I'm not really sure about the seals, I keep meaning to go to the EKO website and try to find a manual for that fork so I know what I'm up against when cleaning and lubing, but so far they're fine. The fork came with the frame when I bought it so it's not like I chose it intentionally. I just figured that if I didnt like it someone else would. So far I like it.
As for the bike, it's great. It fits me AS WELL AS my Hunter does (something I won't tell Rick!). Also, I like the idea of an Aluminum frame on a softail. To me it seems like the best of both worlds- a light stiff fast AL frame without the rough ride, since the rear elastomer gives me some cushion. And the rear shock doesn't add to much weight to make it a slug on the uphills. If you have to ride gears, it's a great bike to ride.
I too have thought about putting it on my Hunter for when I want front suspension. |
