| Cool! | shiggy Jun 28, 2002 2:11 PM | | I checked out your thread on the German MTB board and ran it through AltaVista's translation. Funny stuff. German for "bottle cages" came out as "bottle parents." I could get the gist of the messages. |
| German for SingleSpeeders! | phatlizard Jun 29, 2002 3:00 AM | | Poor guy ... well I can tell you one thing: THEY HATE THE BIKE! ... since I posted the one without the rear fender at least two said: "well not all that ugly...!" But in the end I only posted it so that the Freerider-Full-Suspension-Jerks from the other forums come over and get the shock of their lifetimes...
But I just would like to give you a little lesson in German for SingleSpeeders so you are prepared!
Ein verfickter Gang??? - One f#%&ing speed???
Wo gibt es noch Bier? - Where is some beer?
Ist das Dein Bier? - Is that your beer?
Sind die Möpse echt? - Are these boobs real?
Leg Dich hin ich glaub ich lieb Dich! - Lay down I think I love you!
Mein anderes Rad hat auch keine Schaltung - My other bike has no gears either!
From now on you can survive Germany without any problem!
peace
Christian

| My new singlering road training bike outdoes him in colors | DeeEight Jun 29, 2002 12:44 PM | | Don't you agree? |
| D.r.o.o.o.o.o.l.l.... | BCRider Jun 29, 2002 3:53 PM | | That is one sweet lookin' ride D. 650c's? Or is it just the wide angle lens distortion?
I like the colors too. What's the frame? Carbon of some sort I presume from the fillets.... |
| MountainBik Carbon Monocoque, and its an MTB frame... | DeeEight Jun 29, 2002 6:27 PM | | actually, it just had oddball road downtube shifter mounts for some reason. 12 plus year old never used frame I scored off ebay for $151US back in January. Did some checking into its history and it was made by a company in the USA which later would split into Kestrel and Aegis. The wheels are 26" MTB (CR17A front rim and 0XC rear rim) but I'm using specialized 26x1.0 Umma-Gumma compound Turbo/S tires. The effective wheel diameter is 24" so the 56T Ti ring and 11-28 Real 8spd cassette gives me the same upper/lower gears of a 52/42 & 12-23 setup 700C roadbike, just with fewer intermediate gears. Now when I finish my singlespeed slingshot (its the next project bike on my list to do) it'll be a bit more 'normal' coloured being mainly black and silver. |
| That's just too cool... | BCRider Jun 29, 2002 8:44 PM | | ... for it's "shirt"........ :o)
Dang, it almost looks like a track or a tri bike it's so smooth and lithe.
Thanks for the info and inspiration. And stick some green or pink tires on that Slingshot..... Ya gotta reputation to uphold now ya know... |
| You are FAMOUS in Germany now...! | phatlizard Jun 30, 2002 6:32 AM | | Well they give you a hard time - and your bike ... but it is in German so you can't read it...!!!

scroll down and you see a few pics of your bike and yourself....
I suspected that you are a mass-murder... I didn't post the pics but someone found you!!!
This bike is so unbelievable...!
The thread it is in is all about crazy bikes and people... so welcome!
phaty! |
| LOL, THat's not my picture... that's my friend Isabelle... | DeeEight Jun 30, 2002 10:36 AM | | as if her ego isn't inflated enough, now she's got german guys horny for her. Actually that might work out, her friend hayley is fluent in german and has a german bf. They even posted a set of specs for my loaner bike... gawd... |
| Isabelle and the naughty forks! | phatlizard Jul 1, 2002 7:26 AM | | yours is somewhere as well ...
and they had some real nasty comments about her and the fork ... good that she understands it!!! |
| I ran the thread through the babelfish translator... | DeeEight Jun 30, 2002 10:55 AM | | and noted they were chatting about the company history for Mountain Bik and one guy had a hard time grasping that a french brand would have carbon MTB frames with downtube shifter mounts. They also nominated my friend Isabelle the new bomber girl. Thank god I didn't have any of her less clothed pics in that directory. :) |
| Isabell IS the new bomber girl ... ! | phatlizard Jul 1, 2002 7:28 AM | | Show us the nudepics!!!!
They think you are a pervert anyway - cuz of your bike!!!!
phaty! |
| Wow, that's one spectacular bike nm | GlowBoy Jul 1, 2002 12:29 PM | | |
| HEY! Where's the colored tires?...... | BCRider Jun 29, 2002 3:50 PM | | ....and he took off the fenders too!?!?!?!
I don't like it anymore. It's just too much like all the other SS bikes out there now......... :o)
Bottle parents, eh? Ya gotta just luv those literal translations... LOL |
| Front fender still there | shiggy Jul 1, 2002 8:01 AM | | Just removed the rear and changed the tires for the ride.
I put the green front tire, swapped the rear tire again and rear fender back on for a muddy race yesterday.
Bike worked great. The engine could not pull the hills. |
| Sounds like the engine needed....... | BCRider Jul 1, 2002 8:55 PM | | .......some Choco-puffs instead of the puffs you DID get...... :o)
Shiggy, you won't get any award for being mainstream but I like the way to put your stuff together. It takes a brave person to ask for a custom design like you did. But I gather you're quite happy with it.
Hey, perhaps your design will become the "norm" within a year or two....... |
| Thanks BCR | shiggy©® Jul 1, 2002 9:31 PM | | I have been riding long enough to have tried alot of different thing and lucky enough to find what I like and works for me. When I met Matt two years ago I knew he could build the frame that I wanted and still have it be one of "his" bikes.
And I was right. |
