any Georgia or SouthEastern SS out there?Gratefulrider

Those were some awesome pictures from SCSS... Made me realize how much I'm missing out... well, that and the event calendar sparty started.. One day I'll move to the Pacific Northwest... Meantime, I guess I'll have to manage, being the only SS I know of in Georgia.. Or maybe I'm just out of the loop... So, are there any other Single Speeders around here? How about the Southeast in general? Are there any SS events around here?? If not, and there is some interest I wouldn't mind trying to coordinate some sort of gathering... probably in Pisgah,NC.. well, peace

I'm not in Georgia but I am in the Southeast. Kentucky here.

I would love for someone to organize a SS gathering in the Southeast also.

There are tons of SSr's in the Atanta Metro area. I've see quite a few riding up at Blankets Creek in Woodstock. We ride almost every Thursday night at 8:30. This Thursday is an Urban assalt due to muddy conditions - we don't want to hurt the trail..... too much.

I'm in SC, but make it over to Atlanta some weekends. Still exploring places to ride there.

As for a get together, I'm game. If we wanted to piggyback on an epic event, how about the Ouachita Challege? A long drive maybe, but worth it by the sounds of it.

I'll be there Xmas time.....mugg

I will be hitting Bull Mountain on my Uno. Drop a line if you want to hook up for a ride. My folks live in Conyers. Maybe we can get the local SS riders for a little gathering.

When I lived in Macon, almost 2 years ago, there was a pretty good GA SS scene. It was even pretty active on this board. BigRing, Kreeger, KGB and a few others. There were a few get togethers and the Macon Madness Race had a SS class that some of us raced in and got together for a few other rides. There is also an awesome group of folks from FlA (SS Mafia). Mondo is the most frequent poster these days from the crew, but there are several and they are all really great. The first FUSS was awesome.

You need to try and get together with whatever SS'ers you can, because I've found that:
1)people that ride bikes are generally a lot nicer than the general public.
2)people that ride mountain bikes are generally a lot nicer than roadies.
3)people that ride SS's are some of the nicest people on the planet.

I've been lucky enough to ride with some of the SoCal crew (the ever so kind Terminaut loaned me the nicest bike I've ever ridden) and the guys in FLA at the FUSS. They are two of the best biking experiences I've had.

Sorry for the trip down memory lane, but ride much and plan a party!

I love riding in GA, but miss BigRing, WAM, Kreeger, and KGB. I could easily be talked into a GA trip, probably the week after Xmas. I'll be in Arkansas to ride the week of Xmas. Let me know if you want to organize something.

I'm in Florida and we have a pretty good scene, although the ss'ers in Tally have all gone back to their duallies. Sallies.

i did a race in columbia last year with about 5 single speeders in it. it looked like a party compared to the #'s i'm used to seeing.

Charlotte - 6 killer trail systems to speak of!Mr Tiles

This is singlespeed country I'm proud to say. There are people left and right buying/building/fabricating singlespeeds here in the Charlotte metro area...The closest I've made it to GA on my s/s was Clemson - hella good ride on the single.

PeeWee's Mtb Park(Lincolnton, right outside of Charlotte)

All in and around Charlotte....

I've had the chance to ride 5 of the seven and they are fun trails that are worth riding, but not worthy of being a "destination" IMHO.

To try and get people to make a long trip somewhere for a day or weekend the riding needs to be epic. There are places in North Georgia and Pisgah that would work well.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with the epic part. You can't take off anywhere in Charlotte for over 10-12 miles on any of the trail systems and actually be away from "civilization". I think it is the shear diversity of terrain that's appealing to me. All of the 7 trail systems are unique to themselves. Catawba, for example, has a nice dual slalom course with respectable doubles, a downhill course, and roughly 10-12 miles of nice challenging single track. Of course Tsali is only 3.5 hrs away and Pisgah on 1.5-2 hrs away so NC has it's fair share of riding which I feel very fortunate to take advantage of...

or just make himself look like an idiot with a poor understanding of geography.

Possibly, he is merely trying to mimick the other jerks who think ridiculeing a person's lifes work is some kind of funny. All because I posted an invite to come ride the great trails we have around Raleigh.

Tar River is a trail network built by one man for the love of the sport and is offered to responible riders for their enjoyment.

Trust me, You will never be envited here again.
