| The Bay Area sucks for singlespeeding... | kyezle Mar 28, 2003 3:07 PM | | And if you believe that, I have a tricked-out Retrotec to sell you for a buck! Where do you live? This place is loaded with trails that enjoyed the *most* on a singlespeed. Just to name a few spots:
(from South Bay to North Bay)
Fort Ord (Sea Otter)
Soquel Demonstration Forest
Wilder Ranch
Pogonip/USCS/Grey Whale
Henry Coe (epic stuff)
Santa Teresa County Park
Saratoga Gap
Skegg's Point
Montara Mtn.
Purissima Redwoods
Tamarancho (Boy Scouts camp)
Rockville
Annadel
Singlespeeding is represented fairly strong here, more and more each day... |
| Are you kidding, bay area does suck! | ROGERR Mar 28, 2003 3:19 PM | | It's almost always 50-70 degrees outside with a nice breeze and the ground is always tacky. I don't know how you people can ride there!

| plenty | been_jammin Mar 28, 2003 3:13 PM | | I moved here to the Bay Area last October, so I'm no expert on local trails.
In addition to my list, check www.teamwrongway.com for a schedule which includes Single Speed Sunday. I haven't done this monthly ride yet, but plan on it.
There's a small group that meets at Skegg's Point on Thursdays at 5 p.m. for SS Thursday. Head out no later than 5:10.
A few trails in order of number of times I've ridden SS there:
1. El Corte de Madera, aka Skegg's Point (coastal range up from Woodside)
2. Water Dog Lake Park (Belmont)
3. Soquel Demonstration Forest (Santa Cruz)
4. Laguna Seca/Fort Ord (Monterey)
and, a couple other places not worth mentioning... |
