Out with the old....mtnpat

...in with the new - darn shame, only about 400 miles on that BB. If the FSA dies that quick, I am going for a Shimano UN72 (square taper) and a set of those new ENO cranks!

If you go w/ square taper, I'd suggest Race Face. The cost more, but at least you can replace the bearings and they last longer. I was roaching the UN72 BBs in 4-6 months on a regular basis. Seems they couldn't stand up to the SS stresses. I'm sure everyone else will swear by the Sh!tmano BB, but they didn't last for me. Of course, just my $.02, your mileage may vary.

How are the Shimano ES-70 or ES-71's holding up?ga-ss

I had a Truvative Isis BB go out in a few months on my XC bike, I replaced it thinking it was just a bad one. I have only ridden my XC bike 2 or 3 times since (been on the SS) so I havn't been able to test the second one. Looking at the reviews in the MTBR review section, it looks like out of 31 reviews on the FSA product, it got very very bad press.

I've had great luck with the ES-70 splined from Shimano. No problems. Is that an option for you?

Anyone have problems with Shimano Splined BB's?

...after about 5000 commuting miles but performance warrantied it with an ES-71. So far, so good, but I don't ride that bike much anymore.

My SS still has the XT square taper BB that was in it when I got it used 16 months ago. A couple thousand care free miles so far...
what kind of Truvativ BB is that? nmAesop Rock
