My shark died this morning....(12 posts)

My shark died this morning....knobbytracks
Jul 26, 2003 2:50 PM
....and it's left a hole in my heart! This frame endured 8 years as a geary and 2 as a singlespeed before succumbing to the forces on it's last ride this morning. You have to give John Slawta credit, that's not bad for a 3.7 lb 853 frame that's been grossly neglected. After I converted it to a singlespeed a few years ago, it quickly became my main ride so it will be missed.

Call John and let him know it needs some ortho work. For a modest fee he'll probably replace the tube and repaint it for you. John's a cool guy, he'll work with you.

That option has tempted me but considering it has allready been down that road once, I fear it would'nt buy me much time. Also, some of the tubes have rust damage around the BB area and are probably not 100%. Like I said.... very neglected. Steel = maintenance.

Thanks for sharing the thought.

Did you get it repainted because that paint is gourgeous. Get it fixed if you can it has a history with you.

John repainted it several years ago after he had repaired some previous rust damage. He really has taken care of me on this frame and he's a great guy to deal with. (I did take care of the paint.... just didn't protect the inside of the tubes.) I may talk to him about it sometime down the road but for now, it will be garage wall art and I am in need of a SS frame. I dread the thought of riding my geary!
