Anyone else had problems with Spot orders?mgoldrup

So in August I let go of my precious Gunnar Ruffian to search for a disc-ready SS frame. I ordered a 17.5" Spot disc frame from my trusted shop and dropped a load of $$$ on parts to built my dream SS from scratch. It's November now and I've had all the parts for 6+ weeks and I still haven't received the frame. It sounds as though there are internal probs at Spot with their staff. We've been told on several occasions that the frame was ready to ship, that it was in paint, etc....still no frame. I'm close to cancelling the order and looking around the VeloSwap in SF this weekend and/or order something else.

Other steel disc-ready frame suggestions in about the same price range as the Spot frame???

Thanks!
Sounds like their service is a little spottySparty

Although I didn't order a whole frame, I have bought stuff from them. Call them direct, their good folks and I bet you will get a good answer from them.

No.

Spot is a two-person operation, and each of the two people there have a heart as big as a house. They work harder than you and me and three other people combined, often 12 hours/day and 7 days per week, and although I sometimes wait longer for an order than I'd prefer to, I've yet (in 7+ years) to be disappointed by the product.

Give 'em the benefit of the doubt--you won't regret it.

I know the Spot folk have been in Australia for a bit, not sure how long, but that's what Paddy (the guy holding down the shop while they're gone) told me when I called in my order last week. They're having some server trouble too so emails to the addy on their website get bounced back.

Last year for Christmas, my folks ordered a wool jersey for my wife from Spot. It arrived 12/23 and my Dad thought it was the wrong color so hopped on the phone straight away and they sent another no charge that arrived 12/24. Talk about good customer service! {It turned out the original was the right color, just the see-through packaging it arrived in made it look blue instead of grey. Doh!}

I just placed an order with a custom frame builder an they have not had a chance to ask any questions on the build yet. Hope ths is just that time of the year and sevral orders are all goin in at the sametime. I have not yet pulled my order but would not hesitate f felt that was getting jerked around. I have delt with spot before and they heve been real nice ppl to work with.

My Spot experience has been pure bliss. I ordered a 29'er from them in August and it was here under 4 weeks. Michael is a great guy to work with. I imagine between interbike and the SSWC, things are a bit crazy there now. You'll love your Spot.

let me just say that the folks at spot were very helpful, courtious and and friendly but, business is business! if i tell a customer that i'll have there tune up done for the weekend or if their new bike will be in within 10 days it better be so or i'm a liar. i cancelled my spot order because i received bad business and misleading info. my new fuel 98 carbon rules! and with gear ratios up to 4 to 1 boy is it fast and comfy! forgot how fast it is to ride a multispeed bike!
good luck

Good product and good service. Would not hesitate to order again. Chainring has worked flawlessly and wool jersey is much nicer than my Castelli Cash wool jersey by a long shot.
I've got nothing but excellent things to say about Michael @ Spot...SS_MB-7

Michael @ Spot is a top-notch guy and always provided me with excellent customer service.

Keep in mind that they've been in Australia for the '03 SSWC. I received a quick email from Michael last week indicating he'll be back around the 17th.

Be patient and stick with Spot. Great Canadian company!
