| If you had to pick an 80mm fork... | bn Nov 12, 2003 5:17 PM | | what would it be? (coil, please) 'Zoke Marathon (actually 85mm)? Vanilla? Those are the 2 brands I'm really interested in. |
| Fox Float.... you may be coil committed... BUT..... | Padre Nov 12, 2003 5:20 PM | | The Fox Float in my family and in the families of numerous riding families I know have experienced unmatched satisfaction with it. It's been as problem free as the Zoke's we own.. but lighter.. |
| Fox Float.. feels good, well built, low maint. | SoloWithOthers Nov 12, 2003 7:48 PM | | Just like my grrl rider GF. :-)
Seriously... it's the way to go if you can afford it. I have a Float 100 RLC "detuned" to 80mm on my Klein hardtail gearie and love it. 6'5" 220 lbs. endurance rider here. |
| FOX RACING SHOX F80RLT | HUGH Nov 12, 2003 8:05 PM | | I was coil only till I rode the FOX!!! I liked it so much I put one on my other bike too!! Feels great.. Almost like a coil but without the weight..

| Vanilla a little more plush than the Float | Cruz SS Nov 12, 2003 10:16 PM | | I have both. Run a Float (100mm) on my Hammerhead gearie and a Vanilla (at 100mm travel) on my SS. I checked the weights and the Vanilla is 10 ounces more, but definitely more plush than the Float. If you want plush go for the Vanilla, if you care about the weight the Float is a great fork that doesn't need much maintenance and when it does it's easy to do.

| My Zocci... | SconnySSer' Nov 13, 2003 7:41 AM | | I've been running an 02' Marathon on my SS for the past year. It has only 80 mm of travel, and that's all I really need. The fork ate up the Oregon downhills, and is super responsive all around. It's lightweight.. 3.1 lbs, and easy to adjust the air and oil volumes. The lockout feature is great for climbing miles of fireroads as well. This fork does the job on Epic rides, 50 milers, or 100 milers, it just keeps goin'. However, I've tested the fox's and I agree with the above posts. If you've got the $ then go fox. They da bomb. |
