Brief ramblings from the American SouthwestAZBound

A dispatch from Abbey Country, though immeasurably less eloquent. [After 45 fruitless minutes, I gave up on trying to post multiple pix. After a few more days, it'll be 100% new forum and new methods anyway.]

Last summer, I was fortunate enough to secure a transfer to Arizona from my employer. I had grown up in Phoenix, but my job took me to Sacramento in '98. I never grew to like Sacto, and spent much of my time daydreaming about having something like this as my home ride. This is just south of G5 at Tucson Moutain Park for you Baja AZ locals. The sign would tell you that, I suppose.

Of course, unplanned dismounts into the cactus and thornscrub are a bit unpleasant. The torturous trailside topography of Pass (Gash) Mountain in Mesa, along with a catastrophic freehub failure, provided these theatrics. This sort of thing is, in part, why I spend most of my trail time on a singlespeed (see above).

All the hard effort to haul my considerable mass over hill and dale on a rigid singlespeed and all the sleepless nights spent with my shins sticking to the sheets are forgotten when I get home, wheel my bike back into the workshop, sit down on the patio with a good dark ale, and take this view in.

I have what I want, and I want what I have. Thanks for looking.

My wife viewed the thread and asked "Where are the pictures of me?" So here, as a post script (post post?) is a shot of my beautiful wife/best friend/riding partner moving right along at TMP.
