| Recommend a good saddle? | Drew Peacock Sep 7, 2001 11:03 AM | | I'm looking for something to protect current functionality, if you know what I mean. |

| Before you throw that money away.... | Chip Sep 7, 2001 11:18 AM | | ...check out the Speed V w/ steel rails. I'm sure it'll be much cheaper and just as comfy. At least that's what my ass tells me.

| Look at the cheap WTB's with a "Comfort Zone"... | CraigH Sep 7, 2001 2:31 PM | | They have a cut out on the hard plastic shell that can only be seen from the bottom and the foam you see is blue with the text "Comfort Zone". The models often have the letters "CZ" in them. Should be able to find them for less than $20 US. I use these on my FR bike as I wear them out from mud and they are comfortable.

| WTB Love Channel seats? | CraigH Sep 7, 2001 11:10 AM | | I'm using the Speed V on my XC FS and like it.
They have lots of different models with different rails, different covers, etc.

Just ordered a Speed She for my girl friend.
I find most WTB saddles comfortable. I have 3 of them now. |

| maybe I'm a hardass but | Steve-O Sep 7, 2001 11:43 AM | | I like the good old Sella Italia Flite saddles. I think most people have issues because they don't take the time to set up their saddles correctly. Play around with the height and tilt of the saddle. Make sure it's not too far forward or back on the rails (Ned Overend's Mountain Biking book is good for this). A lot of the saddles out there just seem too wide now days. Too wide a saddle can cause a lot of discomfort on long rides.
So far between road and mtb I've logged 2200 miles on flite saddles and everything is still working fine down below ;-)

| Me too! me too! | Vrock Sep 7, 2001 12:49 PM | | I've been using my Sella Italia Flite since 1992, I changed the leather two years ago and it's still looking fine. The new models are a bit softer because they have gel in the central zone. |
| Bontranger FS 2000... | Voelkel Sep 7, 2001 5:36 PM | | The Bontranger FS 2000 sells via Jensonusa.com for $35 and has been quite comfortable on the harsh trails in the Nordic land. Try a LBS and ask if you can try different saddles on your bike until you find one that is comfortable. I know the LBS I visst has a 30 day return policy for any saddle. The guys there say that 10% of the saddles are returned so it is not an issue. |
| SDG Comp, Bonty FS+10, WTB Speed V | Howard Roark Sep 8, 2001 6:22 PM | | I have the SDG Comp on my campus bike and the Speed V on my mtn bike. Before the i had the Speed V, i was using a Bonty FS+10 for two years. I eventually bent the rails and decided to spring for something different. It was a good saddle though.
