So I was washing away my bike...K-Zero

...and discovered that my rims were actually black, not grey! Ever had a similar experience? Maybe I should start cleaning the bike more often...

When I saw your subject I was sure I was going to read that you found a crack in your frame--I'm glad I didn't!

Kristian (should also clean his bike more often)

after Jim C posted the picture of his Superlight swing arm I checked my bike - and found a similar problem. A hair-line fracture on the drive-train side. Frame is 1 year old. I returned it to SC and they returned a new swing arm, no questions asked. Awesome service but still... I'll be checking it frequently...
JimC had a yellow Heckler....CraigH

that was totalled when he was rear ended while his bike was on his rear bike rack. CRUNCH!

Now he has a lime green Bullit.
Must be a different Jim then... nmcooldaddy

yip, it was me (JimH before new sie and handle change) I check there all the time, but so far so good. I'm not holdin back either. Oh, who says you can't abuse a Superlight a little bit? *evil grin*

The crack look anything like this one? Old swing arm pictured.

So far the biggest drops mine has seen is around 3' to tranny with speed and not a problem.

It leaves the ground whenever possible, matter of fact.

Anyone know of a plusher shock that will fit the rear of a SL? Weight is not my concern. :) (195lbs here)
You can get either a Vanilla R or a Vanilla RCkristian
Sep 7, 2001 1:50 PM
Both would be plusher than the V. Float you are using now. I think the shock is a common size so you should be able to use a Stratos or just about anything else.

If you want a Fox, I think you might have to order it through Santa Cruz--I think the only model they sell retail is the V. Float.
Springs 'n oral....errr oil.kitchenware

Yeah, I've been thinkin about ordering the spring kit for my fork and just swapping it over. The air is plush, but I rode one with springs last week and loved it. The float rc I have is nice, but since I'm not concerned with weight why not upgrade to a spring?
I've never owned a Superlight/Heckler.....CraigH

but a Heckler shock should fit as they are more or less the same frame. I think the Heckler came stock with a Fox Vanilla R coil shock.

The size you need is 7.875" long with 2" travel. From;

http://www.foxracingshox.com/mountainbike/html/aftermarket.html

They don't list the coil shocks on this page, just the air.

same spot. not one hair-line, 2... I deleted my pic from the HD. They machined that area too much IMHO... like I said, frame is 1 year and almost 2 months.
Personnally I think it's torque induced, from climbing and such, because it's on the drive-train side...

Does your new swingarm look any different than the old one? Other than not having the cracks of course. :) Mine looks like it was built the same way.
the same... nmcooldaddy

"What? You got 18in chrome rims or something?"K-Zero
Sep 7, 2001 2:37 PM
...said my friend when I told him my bike cost as much as some used cars. "Nah," I replied, "but I got some kick-a@@ 26in rims though."

Come to think of it, I can probably can get some chrome rims for my car for the price of Propel! They are worth every penny though.
