| It was a great day ... | NewMex Sep 10, 2001 7:32 AM | | Some of us Albuturkeys (KRANK, BrianC and myself), a Santa Fean (Dr. Faustus) and a Front Ranger (Lidarman) went to a local hot spot called Cedro Peak yesterday. This was the first time I had been there and it was great. Krank was the tour guide and Lidarman was the photograher, he's on the road back home now so the shots won't be in till later. We did a few of the many trails and turned around on a couple as they were taking us places we didn't want to go. Lot's of rocks, get used to it Brian ;-)>, from loose stuff to baby heads to boulder fields. Most of it was baby head stuff and it was all over the place. You couldn't turn a corner without running into the stuff.
Lidarman and and the good Dr. were out front showing us how. It is good to ride with better riders cause you get to see how it's done. Lidarman on the Truth was awesome. The good Dr. showed us the technical climbs on a hard tail.
A couple of minor mechanicals but no crashes. A few scratches and an attempt at pulling a pine tree behind a bike. BTW, it doesn't work and just blocks the trails for others. Like a gracious guest Lidarman brought the post ride beer. Actually it was leftovers from the wedding the day before, but hey it was beer.
It was a great time. Most of the party continued at KRANKs house but I had to go home and finish some honey do's. My lovely wife though saw how totally beat I was when I got home and let me just lay on the couch and watch the rest of the ball game. She is great.
Anybody heading this way let us know and we'll get the hospitality wagon fired up.
P.S. - Jettstream, the chili is on the way. |
| How many GPS's does it take to figure out where you are?... | Dr.Faustus Sep 10, 2001 8:17 AM | | or, "I know where I am, but how do I get to there" 8*)!
Thanks to all the Albuturkeys (Krank, BrianC and NewMex) for a great day at Cedro. The riding at Cedro is classic mid-altitude New Mexico riding: rocky, loose rocks and baby head, reasonably technical (no napping on the ride) some good climbs and descents and cactus. Helpful hint - eating a prickly pear fruit is fine, palming a prickly pear is not! After chasing Lidarman around all day I'm starting to consider the advantages of full-suspension (the dark side).
Thanks all (esp. Krank and your wife for the burgers and cookies!) for a fun day at Cedro Peak.
Now get to posting some pics!

| 2, and a boy scout leader! And never let me lead!..... | krank Sep 10, 2001 9:17 AM | | It was a great day of riding! Although my bike is now completely dis assembled! Thank you all for the great time. You gotta love just going out and deciding on the fly, which way to ride! |
| I just droped my film off. | brianc Sep 10, 2001 4:45 PM | | I had a blast too. I guess I did ask for rocks, I think Cedro has every rock ever made. We'll definately have to hook up for some more rides.

| It was great, thanks guyz | lidarman Sep 10, 2001 8:58 PM | | I had a great time riding in an area I never got a chance to see in the 25 years I lived there. I gotta get back to riding some more of it. You New Mexico axe murders are alright people. Thanks again KRANK for the food goodies.
I've been looking at pix and here is a taste. We'll get em up tomorrow.
Jettstream, I have some Chili peppers for you. I hope you like to drink water by the bucket full or maybe milk (see the post above on drinking a gallon of milk). |
