| Steeper than it looks - city style | Sabine Sep 10, 2001 10:18 AM | | really steep
only thing more awesome than the incredible 300,000+ spectator turn-out was George Hincapie outpowering Saturn.
mtb content - Thomas Frishkenecht and Steve Larson had solid finishes (3/4 of the field did not finish the race) |
| Looks mighty steep to me.... | celly Sep 10, 2001 10:30 AM | | and it that's in SF, that says it all. |

| It was an amazing race! | Charlie America Sep 10, 2001 11:27 AM | | And the spectators were havign a great time! Can you believe 6 hours and the people were still cheering when even the last rider when over that monster climb?!?!
Who says Americans don't appreciate a good bike race?? I had a great time!

PS 50+ miles now, and I still get ZZZzzzZZZzzz. No change other than a good coating of dirt. |
| Dude! | Charlie America Sep 10, 2001 4:00 PM | | Yeah, well we're not sure of our plans yet, but it'll probably be a "let's do this today" sort of week. Since one of Annie's favorite rides is Skeggs, I'm sure it won't take too much to get her out there. We are booked for Sunday though... we're taking Special K out to China Camp for her first ever singletrack ride!!
It's sure to be a week filled with special surprises though...

| TV coverage was pretty weak | bubba Sep 10, 2001 1:53 PM | | Being used to the type of coverage shown during the Tour and most other European races, the tv coverage sucked. Too many commercials and not enough biking.... |
| Really? | Charlie America Sep 10, 2001 2:16 PM | | For a local station I thought KGO did very well. They didn't even take a break for the last hour and 40 minutes of the race. And for the technical issues they had, it was no worse than some of the days coverage from le Tour these last couple of years.
Personally, I'd love to have the Grand Prix back year after year... so long as they kep the races fresh and interesting.
