| What should I do? | fatmat Sep 10, 2001 11:09 AM | | I was just riding along the other day. When this racoon jumped out into the trail and unfortunatley I hit the furry bastard, thus killing it. I picked it up and I've got it in the freezer at home while I decide what to do with it. Should I:
A): Go bury the poor thing.
B): Make dinner out of it - does anyone know of any good recipes?
C): Make a nice helmet cover out of it and ride around like Davey Crocket (which Americans, is a total scam! But enough about that)
D): Put it in bed with my wife and wake her in the middle of the night and scream racoon noises and scare the shit outta her.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

| If you're serious.... | Goat Sep 10, 2001 11:40 AM | | First, DAMN, you KILLED IT? Was it small or are you that big? 'Coons can get pretty big...and nasty. Oh, well...on to the meat of the subject(pun intended). Was this during the day? 'Coons carry rabies, dude. They're also nocturnal. If it was out during the day, there is a high likelihood that it was rabid. I believe that handling dead, rabid animals improperly can transmit rabies. I know if a dog rolls in a dead rabid animal the dog can end up with the virus (?) entering through the nose, eyes, mouth, etc. Something to think about. And I know a lot of 'coon hunters and they don't eat them, just kill them for the skins...another post altogether on another board maybe. You have it in your freezer? Is this post for real? DAMN! BTW, I liked the post in the thread below about not knowing what you are...this only serves to deepen the mystery, methinks! ;-)> |

| Coon Gapping | Johnny Sea Sep 10, 2001 11:51 AM | | Well when we want to practice j-hops (keep in mind we're flat pedal beginners) we find a dead pigeon in a parking lot and do j-hops over it, the motivation being keeping the guts off your tires if you miss. I'd put that 'coon in your driveway, invite a bunch of riding pals over and play gap the coon. Point him the long way to make it more interesting. Improves your j-hops and is good clean fun too !
