| The ribbon by moonlite | tiggerider Sep 30, 2001 8:23 PM | | Ok I had to ride it down by moonlite. Not sure if it was fun. Lot of thing to fall off of up there. Plus More way to get lost. Plus No One came with me. Put After getting to the bottom I felt good. |

| Surreal | Jettstream Sep 30, 2001 8:51 PM | | Pic leaves a lot to the imagination, so I imagine that it must have been an absolutely surreal experience. Riding by moonlight anywhere is wicked cool; riding down those acres of big white sheets of sandstone, out on the shoulder of the U Plateau with Grand Valley spread out ahead, by moonlight, had to have been an otherworldly ride. Even at a slow, careful, non-brake-rotor-steaming pace, it musta been a top-5 ride.
"Not sure if it was fun"? HUH?!! Watchu talkin' 'bout, Tigger?

| You had me scared when you were talking about it... | lidarman Oct 1, 2001 8:38 AM | | I suppose taking your time was in order. It must have been fun. If I was there, I would have come. I wouldn't gone nearly as fast as we did that day with Pete. I'm not sure I would have ridden that ridge with the biting branch either. In preparing for 24 hrs of moab, I did a loop at hall ranch yesterday, came home, ate a steak dinner, then rode a trail east of Boulder in the dark. I was testing out my new battery pack and helmet mount. Despite the darkness. I still got some good speed going and some of the little ollie-oops caught me by suprise. It was so fun, if I could handle doing several laps in a row, I'd almost do all my laps at night during the race. When you have a light, moonlight is only good for looking off into the distance. Up close, the moon light is washed out by the light. However, even being dark adapted and not using a light, I wouldn't ride the trails as fast as with a light, even in a moonlit setting. |
| Night riding were you win. | tiggerider Oct 1, 2001 7:14 PM | | I think The night riding is were. A good team can make up allot or lose a bunch. Be sure to ride with as much lights you can get, and do allot of night riding before hand. stay intouch on the 24 hour of Moab. Let me know if I can help. |

| Pretty wild. | Pete. Oct 1, 2001 9:48 AM | | The Ribbon at night would be a wild ride.
I assume you climbed the Ribbon rather than climbing the road.
Good one.
Pete |
| No Lazy boy The road. | tiggerider Oct 1, 2001 7:04 PM | | I spent to much time hanging out at the house. Looking for a reason not to go. But then I headed out and decide not enough time for the climb. Big mistake would have help, if I had climb it. Would have been a big help with finding my way down. I surprized myself finding the cuts to the other slaps of rock. |
