| why MTB will always lose | spunky Oct 1, 2001 7:48 AM | | I didn't want to put IMBA in the title for fear of everyone looking away but everyone NEEDS TO READ THIS. I have been in this sport for half my life. I just started riding/racing again for the 1st time since 1998 and the trail access issue seems to be even bigger now. Think of the IMBA as the september 11th fund for MTB. It's a MUST that you join and donate to something so crucial and so valuable to out sport. Go look at the poll on MTBR about the imba.. that's embarrasing. Please go spread the word and help keep the freedom of mud and grit alive. No one knows how special this sport is but us and the people that we bring to the sport. Support IMBA, tell your friend's who don't ride why they should. I'm only 19 and I've seen this sport rise and fall. with the millions and millions of MTBR's in the world there is no reason we should perish. I love this sport and I know everyone who is reading this does too. Let's improve things one small step at a time. mud sweat and tears.... forever. |
| Been there... | CrüPüppie Oct 1, 2001 8:31 AM | | done that. Been an IMBA and MMBA (Michgan) member for a few years now. Well worth the cost! |
| It's like if no one paid their water bills . . . | wb Oct 1, 2001 9:02 AM | | If no one paid the water bill, the water company would assume that no one wants water, and they'd shut down. If you ride, pay your advocacy bill, or everyone will assume that you don't want new trails, and are ambivalent on whether the current trails should stay open.
(and who did I steal this similie from?) |
| re: why MTB will always lose | spunky Oct 1, 2001 12:43 PM | | I guess I'm just trying to connect with all the people who don't "live to ride" like most of us do. I wish there was some way to make them realize that if sometihng is done soon by more than a few thousand of us then the end will come way too soon. IMBA needs to set a date where they strive to have a few thousand applicants in one week or a given period of time. They need a pitch, a reason and some pride. we should make one week next year after x-mas when everyone has funds again IMBA week and advertise it + support it. The way the public views us and the way we view ourselves is such a ridiculous contrast. We need to show everyone who we are, and what we really want to do with the trail and the outdoors. Log in trail work, join IMBA, ride hard and don't forget why you are here.
P.S.- everything that occured in north shore is bullshit... it could happen in your back yard.
P.P.S- in my backyard, one of the florida's best trails(the k-mart trail for those who know) has been reduced to rubble. This can be stopped but we must be heard. |
