Nice winter spin, new light photo (2 posts)
| Nice winter spin, new light photo | Seb Nov 26, 2001 8:50 PM | | We got our first snowfall (should I say slushfall) today. Coincidentally, I finished my home bulit light project. So I took an evening spin in the snow along my normla commute route by the Mississippi. Nice night ride, the big bright light helped me spot a couple bunnies and what might have been a coyote, or a very lanky stray dog with a taste for the woods and no friends.
The light is a simple rechargable hand-spot on a fairly sturdy but somewhat jury rigged mount. I spent way to much messing with the mount design, but its all stainless bolts and aluminum. The battery life is pathetic (maybe 20 minutes), but it is pretty damn bright. I figure to mount another (much bigger) battery pack on my back rack and wire an input port into the spot. I dunno if its worth the weight, time, and money, but it is nice to be able to look 300 feet into the woods.... |
