I researched this awhile ago, because I was hoping to take a break from the impending Canadian winter, and head to Moab in Jan/Feb.

What I found, if I remember correctly, was that it gets bloody cold out there at those times, and it does snow.

Hit a search engine and look for Moab weather links; there is alot of stuff out there that should give you info on regional variations.

Good rides on ya man!

not sure about weather in moab at that time - i'm in a similar situation myself - driving across the country starting near mid-december (kinda depends on how easy it will be to quit my job) and looking to hit some trails on the way across. i'll be driving south from san francisco, then east from L.A. and play it by ear from there. email me - i'm game to ride anywhere in the southern US and would love to have a partner for a piece of my trip.

...all have some pretty warm days during those months. Trails are just as good (if not better than Moabs) It almost NEVER snows. I've ridden Gooseberry on Christmas Eve for the last three years. I don't believe it was ever colder than 50 degrees.

Are there any suggested books or guides for the area. Sounds like a good idea, since I want to ride in Sedona and at bootleg canyon.
