You were at Tahoe, right? Are you thinking about singlespeedin' Tucson? Sounds like a great course for it(slightly rollin, rollin, rollin).

Solo and singlespeed. You got to love it.

I bought my plane ticket , but I still need to register. Word is that the rest of Team 24/Ellsworth will be there also. I am looking forward to this race in particular. It sounds like it will be the least nasy and grueling 24 hour race ever.

I'm thinking of putting together a team for this. The experience is more for what I'm after (as well as potential teammates). Racing really isn't my gig, but the culture/party aspect sounds like a good time. Our potential team is going to do a ride down there within the next month or so to see if it something that will appeal to us. If it looks like an ecologically sensitive area, we may not do it if we are going to contribute to widespread destruction of the area. That's how I typically see racing. Promoters create a course and it looks well laid out, but the day after, there is typically trash everywhere and the once decent 1track is destroyed.

The destruction by the racers @ Old Pueblo is nothing compared to the master-planned community going in on top of the trail this year. IIRC this is the last year the race will be held at Falcon Valley Ranch, 'cause it's all gonna be houses soon!

But I get what you're saying. I was horrified at all the dead field mice the morning after the night laps. Must've been hundreds of the little critters. Ew.

Truthfully, I had no idea that a planned community was going up on the site. Just my experience from seeing some race courses post-race. It may sound a little sappy, but might as well and try to keep the desert beauty for as long as possible. Yeah, we here in AZ (as well as the majority of the US) turned into bland bedroom communities (like Anthem fer chrissake).

SDMB, our club, has several rides scheduled within the next month or so for the course. Dates currently scheduled are Dec 9, 30, and Jan 5, 26, 27. The calendar has the info. They've changed the course and put in new singletrack to avoid places where the trail was washed out. They've also made it a bit longer "so the fast people will take longer than an hour to do a lap."

The course is on state land, and when we went out there last month, hunters were in the area blasting away. Hopefully they will be gone by Feb. It's definitely not a technical course, mostly doubletrack rolling hills, and nothing too scary. But plenty of cactus real close to the trail.

Maybe we'll see you on the trail sometime.
