OK, last question...Noah

I was all set to go with Avid disks, and then I got an amazing (I'm serious- unbelieveable) deal on Hayes disks. So I'm going with them, and a set of Rolf Urracco wheels (another steal). My question is: My frame came with a Manitou with post mounts. I plan on upgrading it within a year- is there an adapter I can get that will allow me to use the same caliper with both forks? I really hope I won't have to get a new caliper if I go for a fork with an IS mount. Is this doable? Seems like it should be...
Thanks to all who have helped me with advice on building the new steed

it's a Manitou SX-R.
I think it's got 68mm post mounts. I want to be able to use the same caliper for both forks, and I'd be perfectly willing to use an adapter.

about any adapter you need. Just let them know what your two measurements are, the caliper, and shock.

The older Manitous (pre '00) have a 68mm post spacing and the newer ones use a 74mm. This means that if you DO have 68mm post spacing, you will have to use a '99 Hayes caliper. I don't think they make an adapter to use a 74mm caliper on a 68mm fork (Hayes' website is down so I wasn't able to check).

Someone probably makes a 68mm post to International Standard and you can use that and an IS to 74mm if you have already ordered and are going to have a problem...

and I couldn't find any adapters to go from a 74mm post to a 68mm. I think the only caliper that will work on that fork is a 68mm Hayes caliper. If you do get a 68mm Hayes, you should be able to find an adapter to run that caliper on an IS fork mount (I'm using a 68mm Hayes caliper on my Marzocchi).
