|   Pedal Puzzle - Need some advice | Biking Viking
Dec 29, 2001 7:06 PM | | The bearings in one of my trusty 747s threw in the towel yesterday after around four years and 7,000 miles. The pedal bindings are still working, though. Luckily, it didn't prevent me from mountain biking today, since the axle/bearing assembly on my Ultegra SPD road pedals are identical, but I can't keep switching the axle around everytime I switch bikes.
I need a new set of pedals.
Unfortunately, the 747s were discontinued when Shimano launched the crappy 858. The 747 was the perfect pedal for me and they always worked flawlessly - even in mud. I hate to change to something that doesn't work that well.
I am facing some options:
1. Most expensive: Rebuild my 747s with my Ultegra road axles, upgrade to Look or Time road pedals and get a pair of road shoes.
2. Get some 959's. The reviews are good, but are the cleats compatible with my road pedals?
3. Least expensive: Get some cheapo Shimano's, like the 515's @ $29 from JensonUSA, then use those axles. They might not be compatible and the bearings might not be the best.
If anyone has some old Shimano pedals with functional bearings that they plan to get rid off for some reason, I might be interested.
Any other advice is appreciated.

If you want em, you pay shipping and $15 on top???? They are blk ritchey comps, i even have brand new cleats i could throw in.
