Peanut butter lovers . . . advice please?(4 posts)

Peanut butter lovers . . . advice please?Ghost of Jacob Marley

As many of you know, I lost my desire to eat peanut butter several years back. Well, now I'm starting to feel that dull ache of a craving, back toward peanut butter. I know many mountain bikers like peanut butter, as it has protein and all, and I wanted to get your thoughts.

IT'S BAFFLING! Where do I start? What ever happened to creamy Jif and Skippy? I heard it's a lot more complicated nowadays.

Well, I didn't actually GO to a store to see the selections, but I asked some people about peanut butter and what they'd recommend, and it sounded intimidating. So, rather than go to the store and check, I thought it might be better to ask all of you what my peanut butter choices might be, along with their pros and cons. From what I understand, there is crunchy, creamy, and "natural". I thought all peanut butter was natural, but what do I know? I even heard about almond butter, but that guy seemed kind of fruity. Oh, yeah, one guy with a lot of tattoos told me about an EXTRA CRUNCHY one, and said I'd never go back. That was a little scary, and sounded possibly painful.

So, are there pros and cons that I should watch out for? I'd hate to buy a peanut butter and regret it. If it helps, I will be eating the sandwiches on Weber sandwich sliced white bread, or maybe on Roman Meal if I'm feeling naughty.

Keep in mind that I may not actually use your advice and buy peanut butter, but its good to know. I'll probably ask again in six months.

Thanks.

..buy Laura Scutters NATURAL!!! No added sugar, just peanuts with a touch of NaCl..err... salt. Set the jar upside down for a day or two before opening and mix the oil in with the p.b (this is an important step)...YUM!!! Keep refrigerated. Go for it...NOW!!!!

...Go to the store and get a jar of Jif extra crunchy PB, a jar of unsalted peanuts and your favorite jelly.

Throw on a handful of peanuts after you put on the PB&J and there you have it!

Once you have crunch, you'l never go back.
