Actually we saw two or three square feet of it on Saturday's ride around Los Gatos, too, but the Bay Area has not had a good December weatherwise. I was dressed for getting soaked on Saturday. Well, with the high air temperature and the complete lack of rain, I did - from the inside.

In the consideration of future generations of mountain bikers, the red-legged frogs, the ozone layer and the rhinos, we practiced some low soil impact riding and managed to not leave tire imprints except for one very boggy section on St. Joe's hill. Here we left tire marks and foot prints. Walking uphill through clay wearing neoprene booties with cleat cut-outs quickly gets messy. It reminded me of the story about this guy who had so bad diarrhea he didn't discover it until he took his boots off.

Then the best part of the ride - how the crowd of pretty people at the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company gives way as you walk towards the counter dripping with mud. Then you sit down on a muddy butt to seriously phock up the benches outside and feel the post-workout heart rate pump large amounts of caffeine through your veins.

Life's good.

...courtesy of Twilight Error - startling when you're not used to it!

Of course, this will blow through tonight, and it will be perfect for both the parade and the bowl game. It's like southern California knows when the cameras are rolling - "Cue the blue sky! Roll out the snowy mountain backdrop! Places, happy smiling people in short sleeves! And...ACTION!"

I don't recognize the location of this photo. Or, if I did recognize it, I wouldn't admit it - I think.

Where did you take this picture.

I did a 3+ hour ride in dumping rain yesterday at UCSC and Wilder. Like riding in creeks? That's what all the trails were :-) SC holds up really well in the rain. It doesn't get too soft or slippery. Try riding out there next time it's raining. I'm starting to like it.

...a short, unofficial trail segment that bypasses parts of the main fire road in El Sereno Open Space preserve in Los Gatos. It does not have a "Closed - Not a trail" sign posted, so I ride it.

Yes, I've done Wilder Ranch in the rain - it works really well.
