I've been thinking about getting a few friends together to enter this coming year. None of us are seriously technical riders. We can hold our own, but nothing real hairy. From your video it is tough to get the feel for the techncicality of the route. Can you describe it a little?

The most technical ride I've done is slickrock. I did the big loop in just over two hours. But I've heard some of the other moab trails are tougher though.

The trail is described by some as this crazy technical thing but I think that is wrong. All of the trail is double track, only about 6 places get technically fun and almost all of that tech is on short downhill sections. These 6 sections are marked well and some walk down -there is no shame in that. Like many racers I typically ride all sections (even at night). This last year I didn't ride nose dive after a bad run at it the first time. I would say that if you rode everything at slickrock then there is nothing you can't ride at the behind the rocks loop. I highly recommend getting a team together. The first time I raced it was also my first race ever so you don't have to be an accomplished racer to enter. I have been there every year since 97. The race is well put together and great fun.

Let me know if you want to know more...

(by the way thanks for the compliment)

That looks like a pretty cool event.

I also like your DIY camera case solution. I took the liberty of linking to it. If that's not ok just let me know.

Thanks. I was looking for you at the race. It sounds like you haven't been there before. How can that be? Seems like you've been everywhere with your videos.

-I dig your new site.

Well done video. matter of fact, it inspired me to sign up for a 24 hour race, singlespeed solo class...then the feeling passed. thank goodness...

Looked over your other videos too, very cool. I'll link to them from my video page http://red-haze.com if thats ok.

you have a great touch at editing, please make more videos.

thanks,

Your compliment was very nice. I just checked out your site. I like the camera mounted position, the low angle that shows the front wheel is cool. How did you get such steady footage on a frame-mounted system?

Thanks for adding a link to my site. I will return the favor.

well, I think its "stable" because the jekyll rides like a cadillac, very smooth...and the tube cam is an extremely wide angle lens, significant distortion occurs around the outside. I'll be testing out both theories as I'm riding a rigid singlespeed mostly now and will probably try a similar frame mounting...may have to go back to a helmet mount, but I'm not too satisfied with the quality of that, too jittery...and I'm NOT mounting a D8 cam on my head, way too heavy. You guys were smart to go the miniDV route.
