| Question about the Fuel | cbass Jan 30, 2002 9:13 AM | | I'm looking at the Trek Fuel 100
I'm 6'1 about 200 and wonder if the Race Lite wheels are sturdy enough for me.
Also, does anyone have any experience with this bike?
We've been having a taste of spring the past several days and I can't wait to get out and ride...hopefully on a new FS rig!

| Careful. . . . | JL Jan 30, 2002 10:56 AM | | Be careful what you post in here. Certain people (i.e. Mike T.) will not be happy seeing you posting something that belongs in another forum. He gave me a wonderful, sarcastic response to a training question I had posted in this forum. He might come along and give you grief for doing a similar thing.
As for your question, I have a Fuel 90 which I love, but I can't really compare it to the 100. The 90 I have is fantastic: no problems with the drivetrain, minimal disc brake vibration, and the Rolf Dolomites have held up fine. Check in the "reviews" section to see if anyone has had any problems (carbon rear failing, wheel problems, etc.) |
| Chatter.. | Doc Jan 30, 2002 11:57 AM | | You can eliminate that disc chatter with a floating brake arm from Brake Therapy. |
| Also. . . . | JL Jan 30, 2002 12:06 PM | | Trek made a "Brake Therapy" version that you can get from them. I believe it is the same concept. One of the guys at Trek claimed they were working on a new "aesthetically pleasing" fix that will work with the existing swingarm. I haven't looked into that any further. |
| re: Question about the Fuel | Laura Jan 30, 2002 4:49 PM | | I've known 3 people that had Fuel's...all 3 cracked their frames within the 1st year of ownership. They were not doing anything hardcore/freeriding...just average Michigan (which is pretty flat) riding. |
