| Paging JFR.... | Red Ascent Jan 30, 2002 3:29 PM | | Just wondering what you're running for a rear shock on your FSR. I'm doing some research into upgrading mine, and I'm leaning towards Stratos coil-overs w/a new BETD link. But I know the riding you do is similar to what I do..I'm looking for for tunability and durability rather than saving weight - the pig is gonna come in around 32 lbs. when I'm done adding discs, etc. Just looking for some input...if you'd rather just drop me an email, send it to redascent@hotmailTAKEOUTTHEFOCKINGSPAM.com.
Thanks, and I hope you're feeling better!

That's why he can't keep up on the dhs.

| re: Paging JFR.... | JFR Jan 30, 2002 6:20 PM | | hey Phil-
Zonic is correct, I do have a Vanilla R that I use with my 5'' link. I've basically got a season on it now without any complaints. They are super affordable too (I've seen em for $100). It shouldn't be too hard to find somebody selling their used OEM Vanilla R to upgrade to somthing silly like an Avalanche.
**In case you don't already know** I might mention that I would not recommend you get a plain Vanilla without the R. The R stands for external rebound adjustment, something you simply must have when playing the aftermarket game and using links/shocks that aren't stock.
You're gonna love the extra travel. Keep us posted on your conversion. (I try to lurk enough to not miss much.) |

COME ON MAN.

| What would be worse... | JFR Jan 31, 2002 10:58 AM | | ...to hear me use my hip as an excuse to not go on a ride or to hear me b!tch about my hip every five minutes on a ride as I constantly need to stop?
Trust me, you're better off waiting till I can "really" ride again. I've done two road rides this week and I can't put out jack for effort without my hip catching fire. All I can do is soft peddle right now.
Thanks anyway fellas. Maybe (and I mean maybe) next weekend. |
| Just a big puss. | Zonic Man Jan 31, 2002 1:39 PM | | We stop every five minutes anyway! |

TE <---Not actively encouraging anyone to ignore Doctor's instructions or OD on painkillers because it may be used against me in the future. Besides, I look forward to the days when I can blame poor riding on the foot and not my usual lack of skill/grace/stamina. |
| I wonder if they'd make one to fit my Adept... | Twilight Error® Jan 30, 2002 6:56 PM | | Sure the frame is only designed for 2.75", an Avalanche would make that little bit oh-so-nice. Nothing funny here folks, move along... |
| avalanche warning | AK Ken Jan 30, 2002 11:07 PM | | hurry up before that stuff avalanches on us.
First day back at work. Just like I never left.

| Replace the snow with mud, put a Cj in place of the plow truck.. | Twilight Error® Jan 31, 2002 4:06 PM | | and that picture could have been taken in the shop at work after 'testing' the mud pits. We haven't had any snow to speak of over here - it was in the 60s two days ago and today its sleet and freezing rain. I love New England. How'd the arm feel after a full day? |
| End of day 2 now, and I'm | AK Ken Jan 31, 2002 8:16 PM | | pretty sure my career as a competitive body builder is over. The piece of muscle/connective tissue at the elbow that tore loose is wadded up in an odd hard lump, and the void where that tissue used to be may never fill back in, says the doc.
But work went okay. Haven't had to change cutting edges by myself yet.
Had my first opportunity to repay my buddy who dropped the trailer on me today. MY TURN to run the crane. He was nervous.
You'll get a charge out of this. Tonite when I got home there's a message from the doc saying maybe I'd better come back and have another look-see. The job says I gotta be a hundred per cent. They've never said a what a hundred per cent IS. There is no physical fitness test, no clear cut specifications on how much weight must be lifted, et cetera. So the doc is hesitant to sign a release to "full duties" since no one knows exactly what that entails.
Oh, well, only 2,784 more days till retirement.
How YOU doin? If I'd been hurt as bad as you they'd just declare me dead! E me if you're so inclined.

| Thanks man... | Red Ascent Jan 31, 2002 10:10 AM | | that's the kind of info I needed. I'd love to blow the 400 bucks to buy a Helix Pro, but I don't have that kid of dough, but I want something better than the crappy RS Coupe Deluxe I've got. It does have Rebound adjustment, it just doesn't do much. I'll keep my eyes open for a used one...FSR uses 6.5x1.5, right?
Thanks again,

| I have the BETD link of my FSR and... | Gill-Again Jan 31, 2002 7:37 AM | | I love it. I have a 99 FSR Elite (Big Hit) and swaped the OEM linkage for the BETD plus full bearing kit. What a difference! Much more plush, but I did have to adjust the spring on my Vanilla R to acommodate the new linkage. |
| Thanks everyone that posted and emailed me... | Red Ascent Jan 31, 2002 10:12 AM | | You've convinced me to keep the FSR and go with the upgrade. I'd been tossing around the idea of replacing it (again!), but now I think I'm just gonna make it perfect. Thanks all for the input.
