True North Bikes - Where are they?Braids

Are they still around? I looked for their website and google turned up nothing. I noticed a month ago it went to the single under construction page that sometimes means doom is coming to a company.

I rode with Hugh a few times and it would suck if they are having problems.

The custom frame thread below made me think that maybe I want one too. I was hoping True North would be at the Toronto Bike show too so I could check them out there.

That's scarey man. TN makes some QUALITY steel steeds. My buddy has a sweet one. I don't think they're going under though, I mean come on' it's TN we're talkin' about. Anyway, I really dunno' their status, but I've got my spokes crossed in hopes all is well. Here's my buddy's TN.

Cheers,

RB

...yer waaaaay outta touch Jimmy. The True North was sold when the Seven arrived. It's been gone for three years this coming summer.

He was going to focus on web retail only this year the last I heard. I don't think last year was his best, he got ripped off by two of the bigger retailers in Toronto who refused to pay him the balance owed for bikes they took delivery of...And of course the season before that he was broken into and had a lot of pricey machining equipment stolen.

I just wish he'd stop always trying to make the lightest frame and instead focus on quality. Last year a local shop sold almost 20 frames and more than half went back with broken water bottle bosses, assorted cracked welds and crumpled tubes.
