Spring Move: NM or ID?(6 posts)

Spring Move: NM or ID?DK
Jan 31, 2002 9:19 AM
With the job being #1 priority pulling me into a move.

I know both locations are good.

Regarding riding, I read something (just on this site) about local trail closures in Boise?

I've heard good things about riding in NM and ID.

I assume riding at this time is out of the question, obviously. What about road training?

Any info you NM or ID riders might provide on ANYTHING is helpful.

Boise is a pretty darn cool city. Winter temps average (this time of the year) around 40 degrees during the day and you can ride trails all year long. The terrain is very fast/hardpack with trails literally 5 minutes from downtown.

Summer is sweet. Because it is on the far end of Mountain Time Zone, it stays light until 10:30 at night and the evenings stay warmish(unlike Colorado where temps shoot back into the 50"s at night.)

If I ever move, Boise is my pick (my girlfriend is from there and her family lives there.) If you ski, Bogus Basin is a short 30 minute drive from downtown also.

Plus, George's Cycle is there....a super cool Lbs with 3 convenient locations in Boise!

Krank,

I spent about ten years in Albuquerque and the man with the long white beard looks like the man who taught my economics (sp?) class at UNM. Does he teach at UMN?

Sure do miss the food down there. I make the trip down in May for the Santa Fe Century and to eat as much mexican food as possible. Do you thing I could get Saidies to open a resterant in Denver?

Two very attractive choices - congrats! NM is a big and varied place (as is Idaho) so you'll need to narrow it down. I've heard most of Idaho is spectacular, and it's a place I'd love to visit some time. OTOH, you can get some good Idaho bashing by writing to the guy who runs drunkcyclist.com. Me, I live in Los Alamos and love it here. Write me at home, at nuclearfamily@earthlink-dot-net, lemme know where you're considering relocating to within our fair state, and I'll happily offer my opinion, along w/ a money-back guarantee. Regards,

- Joe
