| I've been spending entirely too much time here...(pap) | Kitchenware Mar 5, 2002 3:24 PM | | ...and frankly it's not cutting the mustard. It's been like watching paint dry in here, minus a few good ride recaps. I know I post my fare share of 'pap' (<-not the nipple kind), but come on ppl. I know there has to be lurkers that are going on rides and there has to be more than a dozen of us mtbers out there with digicams (I see you posting pics in the photo section). So lets see 'em (again, not the nipples), post your ride pics! I will vow to post one (minimum) ride thread every week (along with some useless, senseless babbling like this).

my new bike part

| Down three weeks | Photo-John Mar 5, 2002 5:26 PM | | Three weeks ago I sprained my ankle and it still hurts. Then my back started acting up, and it still hurts. And I had to go to a photography trade show in Orlando.
I finally went riding on Saturday and boy did I suck. The Id wasn't working so I had to take the "little" bike, the Truth - which has all air suspension now. Even thought the Truth weighs about 8 lbs less than the Id, I was still at the back. I'm not usually in front, but I'm not usually last, either. I hate it! And I also don't like air suspension. I want all gooey coil and oil, damnit.
I'm never taking that much time off again. I should have at least been on the trainer.
This is the only picture I have to share. Pretty smooth, huh? The ladies can't keep their hands off me. Daaaaamnnnnnnnnn.
What a dork.

| Nurse Stine says... | Stine Mar 5, 2002 5:37 PM | | your back is probably hurting because of the favoring you're most likely doing to the side of your body with the good ankle. It's just hurting from using the slightly different angle all the time.
Hope it all feels better soon.
I like coil and oil too.
:)

| Maybe | Photo-John Mar 5, 2002 5:48 PM | | You might be right. But I have an old car accident injury that acts up due to bad computer habits. I spent my insurance settlement on a film scanner and lenses instead of at the chiropractor, like I should have. And then Dr. Brad Kane (Bones) moved back to Calgary so I don't have anyone to fix it for me if it acts up.
I just need to riiiiiiiiiiide.

| I'd like to feel... | Kitchenware Mar 5, 2002 5:50 PM | | ...what my bike would handle like with coil 'n oil front and back. I just ordered the coil kit to change my fork from air to coil and I was shopping for a rear shock sorta today. Only problem is, I've never seen anyone running a coil on an SL. I'll have to dig out the pics of the SC DS team and see what they're using. I'll have the heaviest Superlight around, but it handles good.
This WE with kristian will be my first real off-road ride this year and on a different sized bike, I hope I don't ride like a poseur. Oh wait, I do anyway, I should be fine then.

| They usually have one at the Cyclist | kristian Mar 6, 2002 7:58 AM | | I was just going to say that I could give you directions for after our ride on Sunday but I just remembered that CC's retail is no longer open on Sunday.
They sell a "Superlight R" which has a Vanilla R on it and you could probably even take it for a spin and see what you think. You would use the same i2i shock as on the Heckler. I'm sure you could order Fox shocks from Santa Cruz or go directly to someone like Romic or Stratos. Then you would basically have a slightly lighter Heckler (which is one of the best riding bikes ever made IMHO...) |

| Truth about lurkers is... | anon Mar 5, 2002 5:40 PM | | ... a lot of them get scared off by the "locals" when they see the
"torches and pitchforks" brandished about. Myself, I hold the credo "it is better to listen before you speak," and "be seen and not heard." What I mean is that I usually don't have a particularly pithy comment, so I read and enjoy, but only post when I have something to contribute, such as a cool picture of Jerry Lewis. The best way to get views on your post is include a picture and be known on the board. I've observed people with legitimate ?'s and comments get ingnored because they aren't known or haven't posted a pic.
Long and short of it is, we're watching and listening, some of us will respond, but most of us won't.
My warning message about posting on message boards. |

| I love those..... | Stine Mar 5, 2002 5:41 PM | | got one too. I change my seat height all the time and it's so easy.
Has never slipped either.
I've been so busy lately I hardly have time to keep up in here anymore! Getting a lot more done though.
I will post a ride if it ever gets nice out here again! I don't imagine anyone wants to hear about my trainer riding. |
