Suggestions for California Spring Break (Family) TripKRob

Spring break is just around the corner and as usual our family is debating where to go. My twin girls (11) want to go to Disney Land (noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, please NOOOOOOO.) Older boy just said anywhere in California. Wife says maybe the beach. You know what I'm thinking else you wouldn't be reading this board. Where can I go that will satisfy everyone and where I can still get in some good riding. We live in Northern Nevada and are tired of the cold.

Any suggestions? We went to Vallejo last year and those rolling green hills over there just scream "MTB ME". I've got some meetings I could attend for CE in Sacramento at the end of that week so I could write off part of the trip for business. Is there any good camping around Auburn, Rockville, or perhaps over north of San Rafael? It looks like there are some good trails in those areas from what I read on Trail Reviews.

Or, What about in SoCal? Anyone know of any camping near the beach with relatively close access to some good trails? Also considered renting a beach house somewhere. Anyone know of any that would be close to potential rides. Gotta get my fix!!

Thanks for your help.

try Sycamore Canyon/ Campground.....great camping spot, right on the beach....and the canyon leads to some fun riding as well, really popular spot in Malibu/Pt Mugu to camp, ride, hang out

there are also some great ride areas you can drive short distances too in the relative area....Kanan Backbone/ Chesebro/ Los Robles etc etc look into it
The Viper Room on the Sunset Strip? ? ?Moe

my wife thought it might be a little too much for the kiddies. Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Springs were likewise nixed. Oh well.

What about central coast? Cambria or Santa Cruz? Any help would be much appreciated....you know, in order to help keep the family peace. We about come to major war every year trying to decide.

Thanks!

Santa Cruz has some nice riding. We also have the boardwalk which might satisfy some of the Disneyland (shudder) cravings. The beach may or may not be too chilly for sunbathing. The water will definitely be too cold for most adults to spend much time in.

If you're interested, drop me a line (broorb@hotmail.com) & I can point out some of the local stuff.
