The Cryptic Kona Pig's Ass Message(17 posts)

The Cryptic Kona Pig's Ass MessageBiking Viking

So I flip through the buyer's guide in he March issue of Bike. On the Kona page, I laugh out loud as I read "What's new for 2002". The Kona guys have put some meaningless drivel in there - on purpose - but in the middle of it is this message in Swedish:

"En gris rumpa är fläsk. Rök den och den blir skinka"

Now, carefully studying their ads - this sentence is in everyone of them.

The translation:

A pig's ass is pork/lard ("fläsk" can mean both). Smoke it and it turns into ham.

But you already knew that, right?

Anyone know the story behind this one?

I search for "kona gris rumpa" - no good. "Kona" translates into "the wife" in Norwegian and "rumpa" means "the ass". "Gris" is still "pig" as in Swedish. All Google finds is a lot of lame Norwegian naughty jokes - apparently there are a lot of them containing exactly those three words.

Maybe I should translate one of them and post it here...

At least until they visit that processing area off of I-5. Then it's like lolapalooza only without the music and drugs. Wait there's still plenty of drugs going around, only different. And the poop is everywhere instead of overflowing from the port-o-jons. Ahhh youth.

OK, so it's like lolapalooza but with a less happy ending.

No I don't have a point really.

The only reason pigs sleep and root around in their own shit is because on most farms, they are kept in pens that are too small. Pigs are actually quite clean...they will keep their fecal matter in one particular corner of their pen if the pen is large enough.

You might want to look up the word coprophagy sometime. You'd be quite surprised at how normal feces consumption is in the animal kingdom. It's a great method for small herbivores to gain the necessary nutrition from the plant matter they eat, because they can't digest the cellulose in the plants. As a result, many animals keep mutualistic bacteria in their guts. However, in order for many animals to obtain the by-products of the cellulose from the bacteria, they have to eat their feces. Rabbits are an excellent example of this.

that probably explains why my springer spaniel is so fascinated with the road apples down by the barn. Of course he wants to give me a sloppy shit kiss after he gets done with this fine cuisine.
