I took it off the bike, removed the spring and compressed the shaft all the way (like when it bottoms out). It compressed with little/no resistance.

Mar 27, 2002 10:30 AM | | The Fox Vanilla has very little compression damping in the first stage of travel but then has a second stage to slow high speed "hits". You could have blown this second stage valve. You'll probably have to send it to Fox. Give them a call, 1 800 FOX SHOX. |

Already got the RA # from Fox and will ship it tomorrow morning.
