Let's say a "friend" of mine might get a $4,200 refund. Should I tell him to get a biger TV because his current old 20" sux, an '01 GF Sugar 3+ disc for $1299 USD, or pay off his VISA bill?

I've already told "him" he can't have the 50' yacht, and the 6 weeks touring Asia is also off the table, and the new Passat wagon, and a new, well, you get the drift.

It really sucks but "your friend" will feel a lot better when it's paid off. Besides, if "your friend" is going to get a fs xc, would he really be happy with anything other than a Blur/Switchblade/Tracer type bike?

K (credit card debt free for 8 months and LOVING the feeling...)
Damn you sensible VISA b*ggersJimC

34,000 - 42,00, no, 4,200/2000 = the cosine of the tangent, hmn, I'm on a tangent.

I hate carrying a blance and I've only done it once and that was when I bought my Silk Ti and my freak'n quarterly bonus was late because of my freak'n boss! Grrrr! If he had of finished my quarterly bonus when he said he was going to I wouldn't have had a balance to carry.
My "friend" would buy himself this...TCN

Well ya know "my friend"gfox

recently went through something similar. "My friend" only got an $800 refund. He had several choices. Put the $800 on the debt load (it would make somewhat of a dent). Put the $800 back in his RRSP (this will make next year refund bigger). Spend the $800 on a birthday present to himself. "My friend" decided on the RRSP route, buut wouldn't you know it, the money still sits in his savings account.

I was at the LBS the other day looking at new cranks, splined BB, and chain guide. Hmmm, those would be fun toys for "my friend".

Why settle for the Sugar 3?Howard Roark
Mar 27, 2002 3:41 PM
Tell him to get a Sugar 1 frame, one of them neat brand spankin new XTR Kits, a sweet Bomber fork, some Hayes (or other disc of choice), and be on his merry way. That should eat up $4,200 and leave some to spare for tubes and the like.

I know, I told him thatJimC

but $1200 with Hayes makes sense in the PNW. and I don't think the 1 comes with disc tabs. Jim

Yeah, pay off the VISA! Well, save a bit as a reward for doing the right thing and head to the Waazubee on Commercial for some Guinness and pasta and more Guinness. Sweet, sweet Guinness. So thirsty... Sorry I digress. What was the question?

$2100 can buy a pretty good bike. Especially if you agree to sell the old one for some extra cash. Of course the difference goes on the VISA for the time being but "what the hell", right? :o)
Hey! You....errrr....he worked damn hard for that money!Stine

Now PAY OFF THAT VISA.

;)

At least do that first. You could always change your mind (which I hope you don't) and just "re" charge to get what you want.

Debt is choking.
